bush lying to all of us about weapons of mass destruction. They did have them but they smuggled them to Iran. So he looks like a liar.

The sad reality is he would have went to war anywho because war brings oil prices up and he is a big time oil trader/ owner.

The reason given when the war was starting was that Saddam was building WMDs. However, no evidence of this has been found. Many people feel that the real reason for the war was to gain access to Iraq's oil, or to settle a grudge from George Bush Sr.'s days as President.

supposedly, Americans want to see if Iraq is hiding weapons of mass destruction. And the only way they can do that is to attack iraq and look for it themsleves. after they claim that they want to save the Iraqis from the tyrannical rule of Saddam Hussein.
If you are a believer of conspiracy theories, americans want to have control of Iraq so that they can privatize the oil companies in Iraq and have it owned by the Rotschild family which is a close friend of the Bush family. Also, another spin to it is that Rothschild family is profitting from wars ever since by selling arms to the opposing armies!

because after 911, allegations of WMDs and pressure from British and American companies for defence contracts, and yes oil companies, it was just too much of an effort not to have a war if you see what i mean.

it is for none of the reasons you stated. there is only one reason for the situation in Iraq as we now know it. that reason is Saddam Hussein himself. He took it upon himself to invade Kuwait, and try to annex it for Iraq. after he was kicked out by force during desert storm he failed to adhere to the peace terms he agreed to on numerous occasions. as a result the US under President Bush's leadership decided to make him comply, and hold him responsible for his actions.
he was held responsible for his action by the people of Iraq, and executed as was befitting his crimes against humanity.

Well there will be those uuneducated morons that will tell you that it was oil, or becaues of 911 but it wasn't.. The UN had some 17 resolutions against Saddam and none of them would he answer to. He also violated the "no Fly" zone constantly, whith UN warnings. Intel (faulty or not isn't the issue or ever was) said that Saddam had massed WMD's. With the arms restrictions of the first war, the no fly zone being comfrimised, the unenforced 17 resolutions, a world coalition was formed to deal with it, and with the US Congress voting for it, we invaded to deney Saddam the WMD's and so on. (Yes there wre WMD's found, both biological and chemical, but not the nuke kind)!

From the Iraq Resolution voted in by congress

* Iraq's noncompliance with the conditions of the 1991 cease fire, including interference with weapons inspectors.

* Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction, and programs to develop such weapons, posed a "threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region."[citation needed]

* Iraq's "brutal repression of its civilian population."

* Iraq's "capability and willingness to use weapons of mass destruction against other nations and its own people".

* Iraq's hostility towards the United States as demonstrated by the alleged 1993 assassination attempt of former President George H. W. Bush, and firing on coalition aircraft enforcing the no-fly zones following the 1991 Gulf War.

* Members of al-Qaeda were "known to be in Iraq."

* Iraq's "continu[ing] to aid and harbor other international terrorist organizations," including anti-United States terrorist organizations.

* The efforts by the Congress and the President to fight terrorists, including the September 11th, 2001 terrorists and those who aided or harbored them.

* The authorization by the Constitution and the Congress for the President to fight anti-United States terrorism.

* Citing the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, the resolution reiterated that it should be the policy of the United States to remove the Saddam Hussein regime and promote a democratic replacement.

The number who voted for an who against by party

Republican for 215 against 6 did not vote 2
Democratic for 81 against 126 did not vote 1
Independent for 0 against 1 did not vote 0
TOTALS 296 133 3

Those are the official reasons for the war. We were not alone in this fight, so those who think GWB lied, then all the other countries must be stupid. So must the 81 Democrats who voted for it. Since everyone who voted had access to the same information that the president had. Especially those in the security committee, of which John Kerry was a member.

What it really boils down to is Saddam Hussien was daring teh U.S. to attack. If he had simply let the inspectors go into Iraq without restriction, as he agreed to at the end of the first Gulf war, then we would have had no justification for going to war.

But Saddam wanted us to believe he had the weapons, he wanted us to be scared, he wanted the world to be scared, he never thought we would actually attack again, he thought the world would stop us.

So he bluffed and we called. We won the strike he last his life, Iraq is free, but the terrorists do not want Iraq to be stable, so the situation is in flux.

That is the real Reason, Saddam Hussein wanted people to believe he still had an arsenal. thus he made us beleive he wasw hiding somehting. So we attacked.

Believably, the areas of South to Southwest Asia had always been fighting with us because of our oil problems, you're right there. For many years Iraq and its surrounding countries with its large oil production felt that the U.S. should no more export oil from them, for we consume way too much for our own good, and I can see how! We consume about 20 BILLION barrels of oil in a year, the top consuming country in the WORLD. (The second is China.) Still, oil is a good that we American's completely depend on, and without it...well without it the U.S. would be kapoot. So, these countries had already been pretty pissed with us for this fact. They thought of us as greedy (and not disagreeing with them there!). Radicals in these areas really hated the U.S. for the fact that we had brought in Westernization, thus erasing some of regions cultural traditions with the adaptations they had taken upon themselves to match us. For this and their distress with the oil problem, they decided to strike back. Thus, 9/11 happened. Some people said 9/11 STARTED the war, but I disagree. 9/11 was when WE CAME IN. Not really kind of like starting the war, but it wasn't as if one day Bush just woke up and said "Alright, troops lets go and bomb Iraq today." for no apparent reason. There were these reasons stated above that lead to the relationship between these regions, and the situation that is now with them. Troops are still there today because even though many of these radical groups are being dismembered, the result and effect on these surrounding countries will stay with them forever.

I'm glad you asked that. I think these folks have the answer:

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members .. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..." - Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002

"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do" Rep. - Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Americans need to really understand the gravity and legitimacy of what is happening with Saddam Hussein. He has been given every opportunity in the world to comply. The president does not control the schedule of UNSCOM. The president did not withdraw the UNSCOM inspectors. And the president did not, obviously, cut a deal with Saddam Hussein to do this at this moment. Saddam Hussein has not complied. Saddam Hussein is pursuing a program to build weapons of mass destruction." (Sen. John Kerry, Press Conference, 12/16/98)

"Why is Saddam Hussein pursuing weapons that most nations have agreed to limit or give up? Why is Saddam Hussein guilty of breaking his own cease-fire agreement with the international community? Why is Saddam Hussein attempting to develop nuclear weapons when most nations don’t even try, and responsible nations that have them attempt to limit their potential for disaster? Why did Saddam Hussein threaten and provoke? Why does he develop missiles that exceed allowable limits? Why did Saddam Hussein lie and deceive the inspection teams previously? Why did Saddam Hussein not account for all of the weapons of mass destruction which UNSCOM identified? Why is he seeking to develop unmanned airborne vehicles for delivery of biological agents? Does he do all of these things because he wants to live by international standards of behavior? Because he respects international law? Because he is a nice guy underneath it all and the world should trust him?" (Sen. John Kerry, Congressional Record, 10/9/02, p. S10171

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
- Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

"There is no doubt that .. Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies."
- Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001

"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandated of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them." - Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ..."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

Haha look at all the responses... how in the name of god did so many liberal hippies find their way into the military section?

Saddam wanted the world to think he had WMD's because he was afraid of the threat of Iran. He was willing to take the risk of us bombing him like we had done before if that meant the world thought he had them, but he didn't expect a full out invasion from the US. And all these morons that say he NEVER had them are hitting the bong one to many times because what do you call what he used on the Kurds? He killed thousands by using poison gas on them which is consider a WMD.
