Need a high school education or a GED.
Dropping out of school will get you nowhere, except maybe McDonalds flipping burgers.

don't drop out of school. what will you do once you are done with the military? i guarantee that you will not make enough in the army to support a family for the rest of your life. do it like my friends have done it. finish high school and join the army. they have many choices and in some cases they will pay for your college education. if you join straight out of high school you will be at the bottom of the ladder as a private. if you go to college you have a lot more choices upon entering. plus how do you know that you will want to be in the military in 4 years? keep all your doors open.

You can't join the reserves or active duty without a diploma or GED. Actually you can do split ops in the reserves but you will need to finish high school. I think the national guard has an option if you don't have your GED. However it would be in your best interest to finish school. What happens if the military doesn't work out for you?

Trust me, if you think that life in the army is easier then you're in for a rude awakening.
Without a highschool education, you will be at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the army. You'll be the one loading the ammo or you might get designated to doing dishes.

No, you should stay in school. Stupid people aren't allowed in the military and you need to have a high school education. You have to be 18 to drop out anyway. Talk to your guidance counselor if you are interested in the military.

Talk to a careers advisor-most countries have high standards even for the grunts and you'd be better off finishing high school if you really wanted a career in the millitary as opposed to getting out of school.
No school except boot and then specialist schools for the kind of job that you'll be doing. Officers do get a tertiary education in my country (kind of a managment / admin / history major ) but they have to have finished high school to be eligible to be officers.

If you joined the army then they probably would let you in if you dropped out of school but you shouldn't drop out. You can't drop out of school for another 2 years anyways so it'd probably be best if you just tried in school and graduated.

having a high school diploma doesn't mean much, but not having one means a lot,
I recommend you staying in school, it will open a lot more doors for you, esp. in the military, they believe in education, sure you may get in, but it will be the difference of chipping old paint off the side of a ship or being a aircrew man in a helicopter, they grade your I.Q. on entry and you select a field depending on your test score, the lower you make the less opportunities you have to choose from

Dropping out of school is the single most retarded thing anyone could ever do. This kid I once know dropped out and now people make fun of him.But if you're serious about this army crap, then say in school.

The MINIMUM educational requirement for the Canadian Forces is grade 10. Bear in mind though that the less education you have upon enrolment, the less flexibility you will have in selecting a trade. Quite likely with only grade 10 you'd be offered combat arms trades only. If you have any interest in technical trades you probably couldn't get in with only grade 10.
If you want to join the army, good for you but get at least a high school diploma first. In the long you'll do a lot better in the army. Also, just so you know, you can't join the regular force at age 16. At 17 you can join but only with parental consent so you might as well stay in school until you're old enough.
