Hi I support the soldiers in their fight. Wherther I agree with the politics of it or not. This is from many many family members serving and my brother serving in Iraq and somewhere between Hawaii and Kuwait. Trust me I understand how it feels. It may be that your family is scared. It is probably because politics is involved and emotions are running high right now.

The Military is the arm of the govenrment's arm to defend itself from aggressors,FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC.im proud that i came from a family of soldiers,my great grandfather and my grand dad fought with the americans againts the japanese,my dad is a navy commodore, well me?let's just say that i prefer to work in the shadows.and to those who hate the military this one is for you: If you are to coward to pick up a weapon and defend your love ones, shut the hell up!or if you don't like like the way your military defends you,i suggest you to pick up a weapon, and guard the wall yourself,it is better to say thanks or good job,we will appreciate that.

I support ya. Don't feel bad about your family. I put up with my Mom telling me for 5 years if I didn't like her house I could go join the military. So when I turned 18 I did, this was during Vietnam and I told her I volunteered for combat. I thought she was having a stroke for the first 5 miunutes after that.

I think its a very difficult decision you made and I applaud you. I spent 7 years in the military and would have stayed until retirement but the wife didnt like the idea of traveling or me being gone. Boot camp is tough, but after that its a good life. If you ever have to fight-and I hope you dont- there are 5,000,000 veterans telling you to aim good and keep your head down.

My mother screamed blue murder and didn't let up until the day I left; which, fortunately, was only a week later. Few of my friends understood (or wanted to).
Make sure you understand everything the recruiter is telling you (and yes, get it in writing). You'll get out of it what you put into it.

I had the same problem with friends and family when I joined the Army and got to see Vietnam. I support you fully and am very proud of your decision. After all, what you do does make a difference for all of us. I also have a son who is in the Army and has been for 14 yrs. Am proud of him also. You have one proud veteran here who supports you. Good Luck...

I do. Some of my best friends and classmates are or have been in the military. I've also worked with a lot of ex-military folks, and many companies (at least in the aerospace industry) view an Honorable Discharge as roughly equivalent to a college degree -- or at least they used to.
A word of advice: make sure that you get everything your recruiter tells you in writing.

I support you 100%. I served in the Army for 10yrs. I was told by my father, who was also a veteran, that I wouldn't make it. On the day of my graduation, he looked at me with a tear in his eye and told me how proud he was of me. I now have a son that is thinking about joining after school and I will support him as well. Thank you and God Bless you.

There are MANY of us that are out here with either sons husbands [in my case BOTH] serving loved ones brothers sisters daughters..................my 1st thought is WHY are your family so against it or not supportive of your decision???
So as for there not being people out there supporting maybe you are just looking in the wrong places........
Do what you think is best and good luck, have one son in the Air Force and a daughter on her way to join.

I'll tell you what I told my son...DO NOT GO IN THE MILITARY!!!! Unfortunately he didn't listen either.
So yeah I'm supporting the military...I gave them a son...I only hope they give him back alive with all his appendages and a head that still allows him to function in society.

the ones that don't support us are the ones that don't understand and don't want to understand us. people support us and what we do. make sure it isn't that your parents and friends don't support the government and not you. my family didn't understand why i reenlisted for 6 more years even after i got back from iraq. i told them that some one had to do it and i love what i do. they will never understand what you go through. my folks trust me in my dicision even if they don't like the choice i made. they just don't trust the government. never forget that if the people don't support us, that we in the military do and we are a famliy in its own. if and or when you deploy you are just going to a different country with a different family. as long as you know what you are doing and love what you do, screw the rest. they will need us when the war is brought to their front door and they are under their beds scared. they will look out that window and see us saying to them. don't you worry. go back under your bed. i got your back. i will keep you safe, or i will die trying. cheers to you for standing up and raising your hand for your country. you have my support.

I support the folks in the military 100%. There still are special, selfless people who are willing to serve this country.....in whatever capacity. Whenever and wherever.
You cannot be a good citizen or truly understand what America is all about, unless you put it on the line AND SERVE YOUR COUNTRY.

Felix...
First, let me guess...not one of your friends or family members who don't support you have ever served in the military?
When I decided to get my commission in the army I was lucky; my family has a history of serving back to the Revolutionary War.
You will never, I repeat NEVER meet a better, more dedicated and mission oriented group of people then those that you serve with in the military, period.
Bravo for you...enlist in the air force (my uncle retired as a colonel in the USAF and tried to get me to join vs. the army) and serve your country and yourself. Your family doesn't have to support your decision...sad as that is. Perhaps once you have joined they will reconsider.

There are, millions of Americans support our troops. I can't speak for you family and friends but my son is leaving for boot camp in Nov. and I can't imagine not supporting him, it is his life and he is 21 and went to college for two years has been working since he was 16 why would I not support his choice to serve in the military. I am just thankful that there people like you and my son. It is an honorable profession and offers many benefits and also great risk, maybe that is what your family is concerned about. My son deserves my support and respect in his decisions.
