No.....there's a guarantee that you will go to war....and can I ask you....why are you interested in joining if you don't want to go to war? I joined during a time of war, knowing that there was a chance I could go....even when my recruiter said I wouldn't go...I knew there was a chance, and now....guess where I am, honey?

There is no way to gaurantee you won't go to war. There are some MOS choices that would decrease your chances. But the only way to guarantee it is to not enlist, and don't let a recruiter tell you that you wont go.

If you don't want to be sent to war, why are considering entering the military during a time of war? Unless you have some skill that is needed in other areas, you could well be sent to a war in either Iraq or Afghanistan. Why would you expect special favors when we need people to serve in war zones?

No. Even when people enlisted under a program that supposedly promised this, the Army wasn't bound to it. And officers are even less likely.
And considering 9/11, it is impossible to guarantee anyone that they won't go to war.

No! That's what the Armed Services is far, to defend this country in time of war. If you don't want to fight don't join.

In this time of war and the things going on you WOULD be sent there. Most of them do. Ask all my brothers and sisters who are in the Army. They are in Iraq,Afghanistan, and Kabul.

If you don't want to go to war, don't join the Army. If you enlist and then refuse to go where ordered you will be in big trouble.

The only way to guarantee that you won't go to Iraq is not to join. Everyone goes. I am an 18 yr vet and have deployed over 7 times. No one is spared. You can't take the benefits and not pay the price.

UMMMM, that is the problem today, people don't seem to understand what the military is for...............the military is about war. You join to prepare for war when it arises. Everything else that you get is just perks.

the Job of the military is to deploy to war.
But if you like the military, want to serve and don't want to deploy there is only one option:
The State Guard (not the National Guard) or State Defense Force
Not every state has one but they are the true Minutemen, citizens who volunteer their time to train until called to serve their State.
