ye if the bullet hits the spinal cord then it'll 'break' it causing all the nerves to be disconnected , this making the person paralyzed
if your spinal cord broke near your legs then you still have feeling in your torso and can move your arms ,
if it happens near the head then you'll lose movement/feeling in everything south of that

because it damages your nerves and normally your neck or spinal colunm which sends the signals to the rest of the body. it can also be a result of a brain/head injury caused by a bullet

or how about a screw driver, any of the implements you describe can cause neurological damage resulting in paralysis, such as my left arm and leg! as to gunshot wounds and stab wounds don't always cause death unless they cause severe trauma to your vascular system for instance comprehende?

If something damages or severs your spinal cord (like a bullet or knife), a person can become easily paralyzed. It doesn't take a lot for it to happen. The spinal cord is a delicate thing.

In order to become paralyzed there needs to be some serious nerve damage. Damage to the spinal cord or brain stem will cause paraparalysis or quadriparalysis. Nerves can grow back but at a rate of like 1mm/year and recovery is possible but not in ever case.
Gun shots kill by fragmenting bullets, massive bleeding/shock trauma, and by hitting vital organs.

Injury to the spinal chord leads to paralysis of various degrees. A bullet piercing the spinal chord, a blade, a fall, an accident - any severing of the nerves leads to permanent damage.
People survive gun shoot wounds all the time. With the advancements of in the field medical care, soldiers are able to survive catastrophic wounds that would have otherwise meant certain death.

You can be paralyzed if the bullet or knife severs or crushes a major nerve that controls voluntary motor functions (such as the muscles in your legs), without necessarily affecting critical organs. It all depends exactly where it hits and how much damage it does. A cleanly-cut nerve, for instance, has a better chance of reattaching itself and healing than one that's been torn or crushed.

A piece of steel, lead .brass.copper. or metal of some type entering your body at an extremely high velocity, possibly hitting vital organs or severing the nerves in your spine and you don't think it can kill or cripple you?
Ok, believe what you want.

If an injury affect certain nerves, etc., it doesn't matter what it is - a knife or a gun or a fall or whatever.....what don't you understand? If you get stabbed in the neck and live and it hits the wrong spot, you could be paralyzed from the neck down? What is so confusing about that?
