Yes. How ever it depends in what sense you mean. Nevada was built by a grid system so land was purchase in different sections. One of those sections is Area 51. It is cleary there, and on a map it will be found right near sections 50 and 52...ect. When it somes to the military base built there, yes it does exist. How do you think it got the name?

"Area 51", as non-military humans ("civilians") and non-military non-humans ("conspiracy theorists") know it, is in reality a small military facility with a lot of land surrounding Groom Lake, Nevada, known correctly as Nellis Air Force Base. It's used for testing and proving new or experimental aircraft, not for hiding mythical aliens.

Yes, BTW it is impossible to prove that it does not exist. It is a US military installation with fences which keep people from seeing what is there.

Area 51 is a part of an off-limits military base near Groom Lake in Nevada. Groom lake isn't really a lake but a dry salt flat. UFOers are sure it is used to hide aliens from us. The state of Nevada recently designated a barren 98-mile stretch of Route 375, which runs near Area 51, as the Extraterrestrial Highway. Such a move is no doubt proof of a government attempt to throw us off the track and think there is not a cover-up when there is one. This is a cover-up of the cover-up, typical of government agencies when dealing with sensitive information regarding UFOs and aliens.
Skeptics don't doubt that something secret is going on in Area 51. And what is going on may be more sinister than building secret aircraft or developing new weapons. "Sixty Minutes" did a segment where Leslie Stahl suggested that Area 51 might be an illegal dumping ground for toxic substances. If so, Area 51 might turn out to be hazardous to your health in more ways than one. Several former workers at Area 51 and widows of former workers have filed lawsuits against the government for injuries or death resulting from illegal hazardous waste practices. So far the government has been protected from such suits because of "national security." In fact, at one time the government did not even acknowledge the existence of the base known as Area 51. Such denials, of course, do little more than provide more ammo for those who claim there is a government conspiracy to cover up just about anything it's ever been involved in. In 1997, the existence of Area 51 was declassified, but the area is still off-limits both to civilians and normal military air traffic.*

On tv, there was a special showing the military keeping everyone far away fro the complex. However, someone with a very long movie lens sat in the hills and video taped the goings on. Just military cars and stuff passing by. Nothing spectacular. They are just a base, keeping you busy with superstitions and what nots, while simply doing whatever every other military base dose, fix jeeps, work out, etc.

Military Facility, Social Phenomenon and State of Mind
Area 51, also known as Groom Lake, is a secret military facility about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. The number refers to a 6-by-10-mile block of land, at the center of which is a large air base the government will not discuss. The site was selected in the mid-1950s for testing of the U-2 spyplane, due to its remoteness, proximity to existing facilities and presence of a dry lake bed for landings. Groom Lake is America's traditional testing ground for "black budget" aircraft before they are publicly acknowledged. The facility and surrounding areas are also associated -- with varying levels of credibility -- with UFO and conspiracy stories. In 1989, Bob Lazar claimed on a Las Vegas television station that he had worked with alien spacecraft at Papoose Lake, south of Area 51. Since then, "Area 51" has become a popular symbol for the alleged U.S. Government UFO cover-up. [GC 8/96]

Yup sure does, so do areas 19, 20, 52, 53 etc and a whole bunch of other government owned plots of desert. Area 51 is actually the huge plot of desert that the top secret area is on.
If ya live in Vegas, you can see the employee jet that goes there, take off from McCarran airport.
