Purple Monkey Dishwaher	the Mians did not predict the end of the world, the predicted the end of a cycle. it will be the end of the earths 10,000 year wable cycle and it will begin a new one. its also the same time that our sun is lined up with the center of the galaxy which happens every 22,000 years. that is all. sorry to undermine you Black Curtains. This is the reason why they stopped, shortly after they got to this point the Spanish came in and tried to wipe them out. they had some of the best and most accurate astrology of any culture. indie	I don't know if it will end, but I believe that there is going to be a cataclysmic event of some sort that will change the world as we know it. For the person who made the other comment about the year 2000. It was predicted that the Millennium was going to be the end of the world. Who said it was going to happen in one day ?? How many severe storms and weather phenomena have occurred since 2000 ?? How many major earth quakes(China,India), floods, tsunamis, droughts, tornadoes, hurricanes etc are we reading about everyday ?? Black Curtains	Neither. 2012 is talked about because the mayan calendar suddenly stops on december 12 or 20 i believe in 2012, but no one knows why. Maybe they just figured they had gone long enough out and it didn't matter to continue? If I was making a calendar and i was in 2214, I'd probably get bored and stop too....but some people think it might be because they believe the world would end then.
