Isn't marriage a two-way thing? Why should the woman keep savings and the man not?

Well, Lets see. If your marriage is a true partner ship, then all funds go into ONE account and all the bills are paid from there. Take that Gloria!

Sounds nice and sexist to me. How about you put it in one pot and forget who brought what to the pot, will keep problems over where money went from creeping in. Good luck.

I think that is a nice fantasy.... just like the land of Oz...... not realistic in this economy and not a real team effort for a couple.

I think it should be 50-50 they should both take part in paying bills and save the whatever is left over.... from both of their checks. When you get married it's supposed to be 50-50 and for me personally I would feel better knowing that I contributed as much as I could so this way no one can say "this is what I did for you" but that's just me.

I think women and men should play equal parts in paying bills and in saving money and furthermore I think that it's narrow-minded to come up with economic gender roles!

Personally, I've always paid my way so I dont have things held over my head. I think it's up to the couple. In my case I prefer 50/50 for shared expenses but for my own personal things I pay 100 %. Good luck.

Why not just put the incomes together and pay the bills and save the rest? It's not one persons money over another persons money, you are married, it's the couples money.

i think if we both create the bills and decide together on what to get, then we both contribute towards them equally. My husband and I share an account all money goes to one place, and it is our money, not just his or just mine.

That's kind of an old fashion way of thinking and i agree with you since i'm kinda old fashion too. That way the woman can use those saving in case of emerngery or back up.
But it's all depend on the couples, everyone is different. Sometimes they want to splits all the payment and have each individual saving account (in case of divorce in the future)
