I believe that once you are 18, you are free to marry.
But I strongly advise against it because you are so young and there is no rush. You should focus on finding out who you are and what you want out of life.
But it's ultimately up to you. Just be cautious. Think it through and realize that you have much to learn like all of us.

By law, 18 yrs old is a legal age (Canada). You could do whatever you want without parents' decisions. But that does not mean that you go wild and marry whoever. All I am trying to say is think before you do something...you might regretted some day. Think carefully before you go for it - is that person good for you? Is that person going to be there when you need them? Is that person a potential cheater?. Marriage is not something you could fool around with like Britney Spears, for example.
End note, just contemplate it for a while.

Yes. However, since you'd be keeping your parents out of the "wedding", keep them out of it when you need someone to clean up the mess you made.

Yes you can. I did that. I am 48 now and not with him anymore, I have a 29 year old daughter who grew up without her father. It is a long road for you all to go together, alot of changes happen between your 20's and 30's.......you will both be different people then and chances are you will not be the same when you go through this. I would advise just being together. What is the rush....you are young, have the world at your feet, young love feels soooooooooo gooooood, just enjoy it for now. Maybe wait to marry after college and your futures are so bright that you will have more of a direction to go in together.

yes. but don't you want your parents to approve? believe me, you don't want to burn that bridge, especially at this age! what does he do for a living? what do you plan on doing? where are you going to live? how are you going to pay for rent, utilities, food, a car payment? you better think it through before you make this mistake!

Yes. 18 is the age of consent to do what you want. Be warned though that if you do this behind their back, they can cut you off. If you are still dependent on them I suggest you wait. And if you do not know the age of consent you are too immature to be married. Grown ups find out this information through education, not yahoo answers.

Yes you can, but can I tell you, from experience, that it is a really dumb idea. I got married when I was 19 (so was he) - by the time we were 21, we were completely different people. We had nothing in common once we got out into the "real world" and started working, meeting other people not related to high school - being more "adult". We tried to make it work but by 23, we were divorced.
We thought we were so in love - and that THAT was all we needed to get by. So not true.
My suggestion to you is this, get engaged sure, but wait until you both are in your 20's to get married. Have some time being adults before you decide if a teen relationship is really what is going to make you happy till death do you part.

It depends on what state. But why would you want to marry without your family being present? Are you ashame of your boyfriend? Most people would consider questions like this if you eloped.

In the United States, all but two states require a couple be age 18 in order to marry without parental consent. Nebraska sets the age at 19 and Mississippi at 21 at the time of this writing (May 2003). A few states will waive this requirement if there is a pregnancy involved, but the couple may still have to have court approval.
