mwsing2356 		Divorce first, then bankruptcy solo or bk together before divorce?
My husband owes a lot of money to the irs and I am filing head of household since he has been gone over 6 months, however, before I file for divorce should we declare bankruptcy together, or will that make his debts even more my responsibility. Legally I don't know.

Also, what is the cheapest way to get a divorce?

Bankruptcy doesn't make the IRS debt go away. If you ever filed a joint return with me you could be liable.

if he owes the irs he won't be able to get rid of that debt. if u have bills in both your names i would file for t he bankruptcy first, if not the bill collectors could always come back on u afterwords to collect. usually once u file with the spouse who owes the irs they will take your refund unless u file injured spouse. the best way to get a divorce is to fill out your own paperwork, and make sure u agree with everything first. if u have kids make sure u ask for the child support in the paperwork, so the judge can order it.
