call your state bar association: two goals.
1) they may be able to refer you to someone else.
2) there may be an ethical violation involved here on the part of your attorney.
Check with them so you are INFORMED and can make a plan of action based on knowledge.
good luck

As soon as possible:
Call your old attorney and ask him/her for some names of some attorneys that you could call. If your old attorney refuses, them him/her that if they don't give you some names, you are going to file a grievance against them. (It sounds like you may be able to file a grievance against them anyway.)
AND/OR
Call your local (usually county) bar association. Tell them the big ideas regarding your matter (but not all the little details - save all of the little details for your new attorney). Get some names of some attorneys. (You might also ask them if you could file a grievance against your old attorney - but be careful: don't get distracted from your main civil case.)
When you call the other law offices(s), ask to speak to the lawyer. The secretary will attempt to "screen" you. Only tell the receptionist the main ideas of your matter - save the details for your new attorney. When you get your potential new attorney on the phone line, ask him/her about their fee #1 first thing: how much? do they take payments? can they help you OR are they too going to be scared of "Big Firm"?
Another idea: Call the Court. Look on top of your court papers - this is the court where your case is going to be held. Tell the Court about your lawyer quitting. Ask them if you can get a "continuance" - a motion for more time, AND/OR ask the Court for some ideas. They will be limited on what they can recommend to you because they aren't suppose to "practice law", but they MIGHT give you one or two tidbits.
Do NOT procrastinate!!!!!!!!
(P.S. It is not a good idea to get legal advice off the Internet.)
Good luck.
