My 16 year old daughter works at McDonalds and burned her arm...?
|
Pretty badly. There is going to be a pretty big scar. The manager knew about it but didn't fill out an accident report or even bring my daughter any burn cream for a good while. Are minors even allowed to work around things that hot?

go to the store and demand to see the accident report - better yet have your attorney do it!!! if one was filled out your daughter should have signed and dated it -- she could be in line for a nice settlement!!!

Minors are not allowed to work around any machines until 18.
If I were you I would contact Corporate Headquarters and talk to someone because the manager has no clue.

I agree with the answers - it is serious and you do need to take your daughter to the doctor. They do have a period to report the injury - I think it is 72 hours. But either way, contact the corporate office and they act on this. Her medical treatment should be filed with Worker's Comp.

This is pretty serious.. especially if an accident report wasn't filled out. I'm pretty sure that's illegal. You might want to first talk to the manager on duty at the time, and then if you want to pursue the matter further, have a talk with an attorney.

You need to take her to a dr asap so that you have documented proof of the injury since no accident report was filled out. Then you should report the manager to corporate for not giving her proper medical attention and not doing proper paperwork.

You need to take her to an urgent care or hospital and KEEP all the paperwork including receipts for any co-pays or anything you had to pay for. You then need to go to the restaurant and talk to the store manager. Ask her for a copy of the accident/incident report. If she tells you one was not filled out you need to ask why it was not. You need to tell her that your daughter required medical attention and you need to speak to her or someone else (district or area manager) about what needs to be done for reimbursement or payment of her medical bills. Some companies have a policy that when an employee gets injured at the workplace, that employee must take a mandatory drug test. (This is the reason some teenagers get hurt at work and don't want help from work but then they get home the parents see it and freak out. They didn't want to submit to a drug test for fear of failing being punished and losing their job) Not saying this is true for your daughter just saying Mc D's may have a policy like this in place and she may have to take a drug test. The store manager or district/area managers are generally pretty good about helping you get it taken care of. It's not you they would be mad at its the young shift leaders that were probably in charge the day your daughter got hurt and didn't document or report it. Hope this helps If you have any other questions about it feel free to email me.

First, get your daughter medical treatment so that it doesn't get worse. After she is set, and if she is employed in the US, she may have responsibility to report and fill out the incident report as well. And she needs to do it ASAP as there are typically time frames that need to be met.
Because your daughter is a minor, she may have special rights and responsibilities, and you as a parent share those as she is not a consenting adult at age 16. She should ask for the incident report, and if none has been filed, she request it now. If she gets resistance, then you and she should be documenting the facts of the incident (where it happened, what she was doing, what equipment she was using, time of day, hours in scheduled shift, was she sent home, did they offer medical treatment and she refused - or visa versa, etc.) and what medical treatment you sought out.
If you are in the US, you can also do some research at the government website below. Once there, click on the WHD tab - then state youth employment laws to find the link that applies to your situation.
