If a job application asks for references is it wrong to put down "None of your goddamn business"?
What gives an employer the right to know who my personal friends and acquaintances are? You don't see me asking the interviewer what he does with his wife on the weekends.

Maybe they want to see if you have any friends? Jeez, do you want a job or not? If you go in there with THAT attitude you will stay unemployed.

Unless this is your first job, you should put professional references... not friends. They're looking for someone who can evaluate you as an employee.

You can put down whatever you want, but I wouldn't count on being hired.

An employer wants to check references to see if you are trustworthy and a hard worker. Those are things that most any employer is going to look for in a new hire.

If you don't want to put anything, that is probably your right, but it is just as much your potential employers right to pick another candidate for the position.

go ahead..........................
the line for food stamps and section 8 housing forms to the right.

what gives the employer the right to ask is the need to weed out applicants with attitudes like you SEEM to have.

a job is not a right and employers may use whatever tools the have available to determine who they want to hire.
