Find another job first so you don't scrounge on the rest of us. You won't get any benefit at first if you resign and make yourself unemployed. The stress is all in your mind

Hello,,first thing is to quit doing drugs, second, quit drinking so much, third ,think about the millions of people that are losing their jobs and the shape of the economy. The future is looking like crap, kindof like the idiot in the oval office, keep your head up and get over this slump. Why give up this job and go to anything worse? it could happen uno!

Can you get your doctor to sign you off with stress and you can use the time to look for something else? Signing on for benefits is not necessarily the best option although it may seem the lesser of 2 evils now. Get out the yellow pages and get your cv sent to all the job agencies in your area, at the end of the day a temping job will still pay you better than jobseekers which I believe is peanuts. I never stick in a job that makes me miserable however I have never been out of work as I just call up the agencies and usually have something within a week. Life's too short to be unhappy with work as it's where you spend most of your time. Good luck.

I would really try and find another job to go to before you resign, otherwise you wont get benefits as you will have deliberately caused yourself to be out of work.

If you have family to feed and bills to pay, be very careful. If not, find something else first. Wash dishes if it needs to be, but do not allow your self to be mistreated.
However, if you could try to change your attitude toward current job. Do not resist, ketch the flow and try to adapt. Things just my change a little and allow you to feel better.
From my own experience I know that lots of job related stress is caused by office politics and us trying to do it our own way. Adapt, try to please your current boss even if he or she is moron. They are in the position and you are not. And who guaranties you that other place will make you happier if you do not change your self first.
Alternative is to start working for your self.
Wish you luck.

Health is so important. Either sort out the stress as the same thing will probably arise in a new job. Or take the loss for a few weeks or more and resign. Trust you will get another one soon. I mean take a holiday in your period between jobs. A long one. I mean more than two weeks. I worked in a Bank for five years and resigned. I voluntarily did not work for six months. I travelled. Changed my life and next employer was amazing. I never worked again. I mean every job was fun.

you will not be entitled to benefits for 13 weeks if you leave your job or get fired from your job
you can go and get another job.
you do not specify what stress has caused your unselttled state of mind .. if it's your job, you need to speak to your employer

If you resign, no matter what reason you do so for, you will not get benefit. A policy that exists to prevent people doing this just because they don't like working.
There is no easy solution apart from finding another job and then resigning.
This may not be what you want to hear but it's a fact of life.

its difficult and im sure its not nice going to work and stress is a terrible thing. have you thought of going sick for a while and looking for a job while off, ok i know its not what you should do and not strictly moral but maybe a few days off work and away from the stress will make you feel better.

Either:
1. Find another job BEFORE you quit!!!
or
2. Go and see your GP with a view to getting signed off sick from work. This will give you valid reason to leave.

You can look for another job at the same time as working for your current employer, you don`t have to just leave.

I would suggest that you go and tell your GP how you are feeling. he might then sign you off on sick. You will get at least the sick benefit from your company. use the time to get better and look for another less stressful job. good luck
