ptcanon	Hmmm...learn something new every day. Didn't know about civil demands until you posed this question. According to what I read about it, the laws pertaining to these demands vary depending upon the state you are in. And it basically says that you will have to pay the purchase price and a fine of sorts if I understand it correctly. Personally, if I were you, I would never shop lift again. Unless you're stealing food to feed your starving family, not many people are going to have empathy for you. Swiping a sweater from Macy's isn't exactly something you need to survive.
