some people are rude. Dont let them get to you. Life is too short to be unhappy. So I quit my job. I am so much happier. I look forword to my new career.I would have loved them to fire me but they didnt.I was union, they worry about getting sued and I didnt want to do anything wrong to get fired. Im not like that so I still did my best but hated life. I finaly had enough. I never had applied for unemployment before so I dont know the laws, but google it and find out . I dont know if you would qualify or not. Everyone needs a break in life.Take care, pray and try to be happy.Best of luck to you.

Here is the big problem that you face and the big flaw in your plan. Even if they fire you it will be with cause. Excessive absences. You can only collect if you were terminated without cause and sorry to tell you the UI Investigator will find the firing to be a legitimate cause. You may as well quit. You will not collect unemployment unless your former employer decides not to contest it and it sounds like he will.

You quit, simple as that. You voluntarily gave notice since you have not been at work for more than 3 days.
Stop playing games and tell the employer that you are not going back to work so they can find someone who really wants to work and needs a job.

You can't keep playing this game. Your boss can and will fire you officially.
I would just quit and get unemployment insurance and consider your next move. And ideally, that includes actually working!

You're probably not going to be able to continue calling in sick just to avoid going back. Without something from a doctor, after a certain point the days you're missing will be considered unexcused absences. Some places have a policy that after more than three days, it's considered the same as quitting without notice. You likely wouldn't be eligible for unemployment.

They can fire you at any time, and most likely will. It sounds like you have already passed the point where you can go back without proving that your absence was medically necessary. Since you can't come up with that proof, sounds like you have already fired yourself.
If you get fired because you just quit showing up, you won't get unemployment.

Just quit and stop "hiding" from them, but if you keep it up long enough they will probably terminate you, but it is best that you go in and give your notice that you want be back after a certain date.

Not trying to be mean but how old are you?? At some point in our lives we all get picked on by a boss. Job = Money Money = Survival Deal with it until you find other employment. As a retail manager, I'd already be working with our HR Department to terminate you with cause and you do not receive unemployment when you get terminated with cause. Have you seen all the store closings happening in our economy? Value what you have even if it is less than appealing.

What your considering is called job abandonment. It is considered the same as quitting without notice. And you won't be able to collect unemployment.
If it's really bad, just call in and say that you won't be coming back.

Honey, you DID quit. You abandoned your job and the termination reason will be either resigned: job abandonment or terminated: excessive absenteeism. Either way, you get no unemployment. How long do you think you can keep up your immature charade? Another week? A month? Get off your lazy behind and get a new job and go to work. We'd all like to sit around and do nothing and "recuperate from well...life." Unfortunately we can't. We take our responsibilities seriously and have a little more self-respect than to live off other hard working people. You need to seriously grow up. Sorry if this sounds harsh but I haven't had time to recuperate from life today.

Even if you do go back and wait to be fired you will not be able to collect. Your job will most likely fight your unemployment claim and they have proof you abandoned your job once they show that to unemployment you will be denied. You need to either suck it up and quit or get a dr.'s note deal with the job until you find a new one. Honestly with the way the economy is right now you shouldn't be playing games with your livelihood like that. There are so many people looking for work that actually got laid off from jobs they love and these people will have good references to land a new job. If you end things with your employer the way they are now you can defiantly not count on have a reference from them. It's going to be even harder for you to get a new job.

Don't worry anymore about what they think. You don't work for them anymore. You did quit. Call them and ask them to mail your last check to you. Find a new job, and make no mention on why you left your last employer. There is always something new on the horizon. Look forward to the future and be happy.

guess what.........
if you get fired for absenteeism you will not get unemployment.
qualifying for unemployment is based on WHY the job was lost, not if you quit or were fired.
grow up and act like an adult, if you do not want the job quit!
it is usually best to give and work out a notice but you are obviously not interested in doing what is right or being honest with your employer so just call and say "i quit". you are not going to qualify for unemployment either way.

You can not collect unemployment if you are fired. Unemployment is for people who lost their jobs, not people who are dishonest and bad employees.
You really should grow the phuck up. This is not even close to rational behavior.
