it would probably depend on the employer! i lied on my last job application and all she told me was i need to fill out another app. and put my real age.... but she told me that i shouldnt do that cause if she was a b**ch then she proally woulda call some one and i would have gotten in trouble ....so im guessing it was loke the cops or somthing.

They should not be asking for your age, since age discrimination is illegal.
All they need to know is that you are over 18.

in order to get away with that lie you're also going to be needing to show a fake social security and a fake id, so a lot of trouble!

You sign the bottom of the application stating these are true and accurate statements. When you employer finds out and I mean when you could be terminated with no chance of any benefits or unemployment benefits. You always get caught :)

Heres the thing, it may not be such a huge deal to lie to a store or whatnot, if that's where you're applying at, BUT when you have a job, you need to do your taxes.. so you'd pretty much be lying to the government which is a HUGE deal.
Also every job I've ever had has checked my social security number and ID.

As with anything else, you'll get in no trouble at all unless you get caught. But then, you could get terminated for lying on your application. Unless your name is Miguel Tejada...

If and when the management of the company finds out, they'd likely fire you. And you could probably forget about getting a good reference from them for your next job.
It's not worth the lie. Just either find a different job somewhere that will hire you at whatever age you really are, or wait until you're a little bit older to apply.

you wouldn't get hired on because they ask for two forms of id to complete the hiring process, plus most places do background checks...

Depends on who hires you. If it's a small business, don't worry about it.
I do hiring at my location, for the most part, small businesses will not check your age/background etc...

depends - did you say you were of legal age to work and you werent?
you'd lose your job if you're 15 and said you were 18, but if you said you were 23 instead of 22 or something i don't think they'd care. where'd you apply, how old are you, and how old did you say you were?
and why'd you lie?

never lie when in a job interview or application...if you do end up getting hired...they will eventually find out..and then when another job is interested in you, and calls your previous job for information on how good you were...they will tell them that you lied about your age...and you wont get the job..trust me...dont lie

I guess it would depend on the job.
Never lie on a Government document.
And if you plan on doing anything in the public eye later in life, it's best not to have things like this to dredge up.
