the saying goes... money doesnt grow on trees. which holds a slightly different connotation to ...money doesnt come from trees. cos when you think about it, it doesnt grow literally on branches of trees, and thats what that saying is conveying.

Actually, money (at least in the USA), is made from some sort of cloth, I think linen, not paper.

Cute - but paper isn't money until it's printed on by the mint, until then it's just paper, which DOES come from trees.

money is actually woven from cotton and linen (plant fibers), thus while money has a paper-like appearance, its woven-nature makes it more durable than paper from wood pulp or "leaves."
so, no, money doesn't grow on trees.

yes, money does come from trees though it doesn't technically grow on trees - that would be leaves. Unless you are a banker right now in which case, the trees are too slow with money being handed out all over from the federal government.

technically it doesn't, money is made from cotton and linen, but the saying isn't referring to the physical. it means that you can just go outside an pick it off a tree when you need it, you have to earn it, its not just handed to you.

No it doesn't. US currency is printed on rag paper that is a blend of 75% cotton and 25% linen.
