Both. Every law office is different. In some offices, you'll be "chained" to the desk. In other offices, the attorneys will ask you to run errands: deliver pleadings to court, go to the post office, pick up the attorneys' laundry, feed their dogs, clean the toilets, etc. Every law office is different.
Warning! Jobs in the field of Law are drying up FAST!! This is NOT a good field to invest time and/or money in. Many reasons. Main reason?....We simply have WAY TOO MANY Legal Professionals - we have a GLUT! ("Legal Professionals" includes, but is not limited to: Lawyers/Attorneys, Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc.)
What does this mean? Even IF you finish your studies in Law, you probably won't be able to find a job when you are done. There just aren't enough jobs to go around. Because of this, many Attorneys/Lawyers are working "down" just to pay some of their bills - this means THEY are working as Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc< THIS would be your competition. And the competition is fierce.
Now the law schools know this> they know the "truth" - that the economy/market is SATURATED. But they continue to recruit and churn out more and more graduates. A law student for a law school is easy money - compared to other areas of study.
Now if you want a JOB when you are done with your studies, consider and look into the field of HEALTHCARE!< THIS is where the jobs are! and scholarships!
Good luck.
