Temporary employment agencies can often help by getting someone a temp position at a company (often warehouses in my area), and then if they do good work, the company may hire them full-time... It's important that he tells the temp agency that he has a felony, so they can place him accordingly...
Goodwill also has an employment program that helps felons (and misdemeanants) find work...
If you want, e-mail me, and let me know the general region of Indiana you're in, and I might be able to provide you with some specific information on who to try...

I am sure you can find a job.....somwhere. However it will be VERY if not near impossible to find an above average paying job. A Felony closes so many doors. I know you may have changed since then, but try your best shooting for a low paying job instead first, like bagging at jewel or something of that nature. Not trying to be a downer but maybe if you prove your successful doing something like than when you apply for higher paying jobs, they may look at it like you HAVE changed not WILLING to change.

I hope he doesn't do any more drugs...........
I'm going to provide with some valuable information with respect to felon/convictions and employment. The federal government has a program in which a person with a conviction can get bonded in order to give the individual a chance to get hire. This bond is free for the individual with the conviction(s) and the employer. It's more o less insurance for the employer and again like I said it's free for the individual and the potential employer. In order to submit an application for bond you may need to download it from the site I'm going to give you. The site and information I'm going to provide you with is directly for your state only.
Also they have another program that gives Tax Credit employer who hire individual(s) with conviction(s). Do yourself a favor and utilize this site because it's very resourceful.
I suggest you try getting your Commercial Drivers License. You may be eligible to get it for free. It' will open more doors for you as far as employment/jobs. You need to inquire with Workforce One, in your state it may go by a different name. Check the site I'm going to provide you with for this agency. They help you get a voucher/money federal funded for free to pay for you to get your cdl license. The cut the check out to the school you select to get your CDL training. Email me I can send you a copy of a letter which you can use in order to get a chance to get hire. It's letter that states that you made a mistake and you're sorry for what you did.....Ok read the whole page, and the agency that will help you get your CDL license is called "Work One Center" give them a try.....

It can be hard to find a job with a record. So if hard work is ok, look to the construction industry. laborers are in demand and some pay alright. It is possible through this method to also learn a trade and make good money (takes several years, but hey, forward looking). Many truck driving jobs do not require anything special and some can pay not bad. Later you can become a broker with your own truck and then you're self employed and no other bosses to worry about.
So look around a see what you can find. It may take a bit of sidewalk pounding.
