Would this be legal, underage drinking question..?
I heard that in some states minors can drink alcohol at a restaurant if they are with their parents. Is this true?
And just out of curiosity... I'm 20 years old and my husband is 21. Could I drink with him at a restaurant? It seems silly that I can be married and have kids and not be allowed to drink.

Nope. And being married and having kids has nothing to do with drinking.

You could have a glass of wine at home with your parents, but not at a restaurant. The restaurant would potentially be liable.

Liquor laws are by state but I haven't heard of anyone under age being allowed to consume alcohol in a restaurant. The restaurant is responsible for all persons consuming alcohol and must control it. It is illegal to serve someone of age without ID. All persons consuming alcohol must be able to verify they are of age.

I agree it does seem silly that you are married with kids at 20.

Some states you are allowed to drink. At least this is the case of Wisconsin at one time, but the laws may have changed.

There is a Federal law and State law regarding drinking. The minimum age under both is 21.

The Federal law only states that public possession and purchase of alcohol by minors is prohibited. It does not prohibit you from drinking. The only catch is the person who supplied you the drink can get into trouble if something were to happen to you.

State laws differ but most staets are strict when it comes to drinking.

I've never heard of that.. most places card each person and if they aren't 21 they can't drink. From what I understand your husband can get in trouble if he supplies you, a minor, with alcohol. I guess you would have to look it up online for your state, otherwise just have him pick up some drinks for you guys to enjoy at home.
