What is an INS detainer?
we are going through a court case against the man who molested my then 6 year old daughter and somtimes I go on our county jail website just to make sure he is still there but today under holds it says INS detainer and a date. What does this mean. We are waiting for sentancing since he made a deal with the DA and pleaded no contest

hes an illegal and will probably be deported

He's an illegal alien. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has a hold on him. He's going to be deported after the justice system is finished with him.

INS stands for Immigration and Naturalization Service

An alien under an INS detainer is deported
after the criminal proceeding or sentence has been completed.
