This is very simple and the word is the same in every language so no one should have trouble to understand it >NO!!!! Not to be mean but this is to much of a risk .We are one of or the most powerful nation in the world
we cant afford to give this away to someone who was not born in our country. And just because foreigners cant become president it doesnt mean they cannot have an impact in our country.

At first I was undecided but after seeing the millions of illegals crossing the border and many left over from revolutions and some of the worst gang members, and to one day one of this persons might have absolute power is scary,we already have enough of our own,we don't need someone else's way of thinking

No, I believe that in order to be the President, you should have been born in the US. Who's to say that a person from anothr country wouldn't run just to gain the power to disadvantage our country so that their native land could gain an advantage over ours. I think that the person leading our country should have been born here, so consequently they know our culture and beliefs.

No. People who are not born in the U.S. can contribute to the betterment of the United States in ways, other than by being President.

I think Newgenre1's point about military service is the most important. The law could change to allow people born elsewhere who are U.S. citizens that have served honorable time in the U.S. Military, they could be allowed to run for president.
That would rule out Hilary! Yeah! Cool! ;D

yes and no.
yes, because it might allow our government to change foreign policies in a way that will minimize conflict with the foreign nations.
and no because they may not be completely familiar with the way things were in america when the were growing up. as a result, they may not be as good with domestic policy as previous presidents.

A constitutional amendment would have to be passed by Congress and ratified by thirty-eight states. I doubt that would ever happen, after all the equal rights amendment cannot even get ratified by thirty-eight states, so it's a moot point.

No. Plain and simple. There's a lot of other countries who would say no to an American who wanted to do the same thing.

I think we should. I mean, just because they were born in Australia or Egypt, doesnt mean they don't have great ideas. Americans arent the only people with brains!Same with women. Women should be voted into office...i would really like to see the first non-Ameican president or the first Women president...or the First non-American Women President. Like I said, Americans arent the only ones with brains!!!

Quoting one of the answers:
"I think it would be a very dangerous precedent, and could lead to our having a very dangerous president. "
I can't see anyone more dangerous than George W. Bush.
But back to the question, if the Constitution says that only a native American could be the president, then only Indians should have been presidents! The USA is a land made by foreigners, and I really don't see a problem in allowing people born elsewhere to become the president. The only problem is that the president will always be who the "hidden forces" want, and not someone chosen by the people.

Absolutely! (And if you do not agree with me, do not tell me!) I am SICK of Ameircans discriminating foreigners. I think that if a legal immagrant has decided to come to the US and wants to run for president then they should be 100% welcome to. Really, these people can really help us. They are much more useful than most of these people that run the government today. (and all you pro-bush under-educated people, yeah, I said it) Foreigners could be vital for this country. There are huge problems we absolutely need to fix, and then a foreigner could be JUST AS IMPORTANT as the next American guy. Let them help us! Let them save us! Give them the rights the deserve!!!!!!!!!

I think we should. I think it is pretentious to belive that only people born in America have the convictions to stand up for what Americans believe. There is no good reason to keep people born from another country from running for president. IF you don't like the idea, you don't have to vote for them. I do like the idea that they would have to have lived in the country for a set number of years...say 15-20, just to be sure they have a handle on how we do buisness. Are we worried that they will be terroists and overtake our governement for thier own destructive purposes? Well, obviously there are systems in place that would prevent that from happening (i.e the Senate, House, and Court) Are we worried they won't understand the American people? How much do you think entitled, wealthy, educated white men represent your values? I really don't think the President is all that powerful of a position, and furthermore there are so many checks and balances that it is silly to excluded someone who may be qualified just becuase his mother gave birth in another country.
As for Arnold...Even if he was American he shouldn't be president.

My answer is biased. I say yes. My dad was stationed in England when my mom had me. I should be allowed to run for president if I want to. I mean c'mon. So because my dad was stationed overseas I am denied the right to ever run for President? WTH is that about? Also America won't allow dual citzenship with England.. What gives?

YES. If some of our former presidents had to go through what foreigners go through to become a citizen, I think we would be in a much better situation right now.
