Should marijuana be legal?
I know this is a big controversy, but I want to get some opinion.

I work in law enforcement, and I don't use it. But I personally think that it should be legal, I feel that we are spending a lot of our resources on this stuff, that doesn't need to be spent.

I work in a prison, and if I find an inmate smoking it, I don't really care, I rather them have it than alcohol.

Please don't suggestion killing brain cells, or health risks, or "overdosing (hah) " or it be suggestion to other drugs. We all know that doesn't comply with this situation all the time. And if it does, it is no different than the alcohol.

I haven't smoked pot in over 5 years, will I ever again? no. It's not for me. I just don't think we should spend all our ta paying money on it first of all

What do you all think?

I am looking for other law enforcement opinions... not for just the general joe.

I don't use it and I don't want it to be legal. The last thing I want in this country is a bunch of people smoking up before and during work. American workers are lazy enough- they don't need weed to make them slower. Unlike alcohol, marijuana stays in your system for 30 days or so. Alcohol is legal, but in most workplaces you can't come to work smelling like booze. How would employers test to see if someone is high on the job?

Pot kills a ton of brain cells too- a lot more than alcohol does.

yes it should, because it's been proven that if marijuana was legal and sold like cigarettes then it would make enough money in california alone to pay off the 7 billion dollar bail-out within seven years, plus marijuana isn't bad for you, it's not addictive unless you have an addictive personality, it doesn't have chemicals like arsenic and cyanide in it like cigarettes do, and it doesn't kill your liver like alcohol and it doesn't make you angry and violent like alcohol does, plus in a study one man took an S.A.T. test when he want high on weed and he got a 980, but when he was high he got a 1030, i think that's impressive =]

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with you "turning a blind eye", unless the inmate is assigned a task that can put someone in danger through negligence...though I'm not sure what that would be.

Marijuana should obviously be legalized--it would generate huge revenue in tax dollars, and make jobs like yours easier, giving you the opportunity to focus on actual issues.

Yes, An adult should be free to consume whatever substance they choose as long as it doesn't affect anyone else. That includes the emergency room not helping you if you happen to be a dumba$$ and OD too!
