Using a belt could be more serious, more than simple discipline, so in that case, it might be illegal everywhere, as blatant abuse or assault or battery. People is so quick to tell somebody what to do, but when they wont be there when you go thru the heart ache and pain of the having your mom in jail just for spanking you with a belt. More kids need that these days because they are out of control. I dont know my parents punished me when I was younger....my dad would do that but not over something like making a dog growl...like once when i punched my brother's tooth out in church. But that stopped when I was like 10...so I think 13 is a little old... I don't know how I feel about that form of punishment either. Anyway the belt is not a weapon nor would this be assault and battery no matter what all these bleeding hearts feed you. Odds are good that you needed to be spanked and your mother applied the belt to your chagrin. Now you run here to whine about it and get the libs frothing at the mouth over the thought of you having your mom thrown in jail. Think about that for a minute, she goes to jail and you go to foster care. After all if you are abused then your dad and family allowed it to go on so either a foster family will take you in (unlikely at your age) or a foster facility will take you when other roads have failed. That means you sleeping on a cot in a open room with 10-40 other boys, many of which have been in the system for violent youthful offenses, who will delight in making your life heck.
