It is best to have full financial disclosure of current assets and income of all parties and to make sure both prospective spouses are individually represented by separate attorneys. It is best to make sure that both attorneys are not from the same law firm, either.

If the prospective wife is not financially savvy, it may be good to have an accountant explain the financial statements to her and have her acknowledge in writing that they have been explained to her satisfaction.
