Generally, yes. However, it depends on the nature of the "mistake." Or more precisely, certain crimes do not deserve to be called "mistakes." And some people do not repent their misdeeds. I do not think a person deserves a second chance until they sincerely regret their misdeeds and understand why it was wrong.
For example, there are plenty of people out there who commit crimes against children on the excuse that "they need discipline," or "they have to learn about the grown-up world sometime," and do not understand just how much harm they have done. Or plain don't care. Such people deserve no consideration whatsoever.

No, although nobody is perfect, they have used a thought process to make that mistake. Therefore you cannot trust their judgement, or their excuses for that matter.

Under most circumstances yes. That question is a little vague. If your asking can you kill someone and expect people to say oh she messed up give her a second chance, than no. If you are talking about maybe sleeping with your friend's boyfriend than the second chance would depend on the strength of the friendship and the seriousness of the relationship with the boyfriend. If you mean you were walking around the store and didn't grab a cart cause you were only getting a couple things and to make more room in your hands you stuck an item in your pocket and frogot about it and later returned the itme with an apology than yes you get a second chance. there are too many scenarios you could come up with by asking such a vague question, it requires more details in order for you to get a reasonable reponse from people.

If you made a mistake, would you want a second chance? Put yourself in their shoes. I believe everyone needs to make mistakes, it's a more productive way to learn

Absolutely they deserve a second chance. There aren't many things I can think of that someone could do that are so bad they didn't deserve a second chance (but not a third chance).

It all depends on the mistake. If it is a purposeful mistake that everyone knows is bad, like shooting to kill, then no second chance. If it's like an accident, like someone hitting someone else with a car on accident or something where there is no intent to kill, then yes.

To err is human, as they say. That is how we grow and learn in life. If we could get it right the first time, we would be GOD.
