Having a law and implimenting it takes time.. if at a time where there is no law, we decide it wont work.. then nothing will work.. everything has to be attempted before giving up.. and why give up in the first place.. it shld be a step by step process where people ought to be educated that they are spoiling their environment which affects their own health.. and enough dustbins ought to be provided. Our population is so high, and so many unemployed illiterate people are available, im sure they can be given the job of supervising the areas and apprehending whoever litters and make them use the dustbins.. this is from the top of my head.. if lots of people sit and think it through im sure a proper solution can be arrived at

Yes, I do agree with such laws for a hygenic society and a clean environment, but it is not 100% feasible for a country like India. People are un-educated and even educated people doesn't like such reforms in our society as we are badly under the influence of a bunch of political parties, such reforms may lead to agitatation and lawlessness in our great country.

There are 2 options: Force the people or educate the people.

In India, laws cannot be implemented since controlling a billion people is impossible.

Hence, educating people is better. Also, this should go hand in hand with the growing infrastructure. There should be more garbage bins and better garbage pickup service.

There is no doubt that these kind of laws should be introduced...the question is will these laws be enforced and if they are will they be followed ( knowing our fellow Indians). I am sorry to say that it wont make much of the difference. And India has such a vast population its kind of hard that everyone follows the rules or even cares to follow them. It's sad but true.

Yes. I do agree that India needs an Anti-Littering Legislation like the one in Singapore.

There is nothing like too much freedom. One's freedom should not be at the cost of the public.

India needs stricter laws and much stricter enforcement of such laws on public behaviour by its citizens. Public places in India are littered with all sorts excretia and it cannot be allowed to continue like.

I would also suggest that as we have laws against traffic law violators, we need to punish the pedestrians who venture to cross the roads as they like and sqat on the roads and other public places. It is a pity that petty politicians of all hues and colors jump in to protect even those who encroach on public roads and other public places to start their businesses leaving no space for people to walk and park their vehicles. India needs to progress in a civilised modern way not in a primitive way.

we need laws for so many things But what use unless we have the basic commonsense etiquette awareness. For everything we lack it is only our system to be blamed for. Nothing can help us except god. GOD HELP US!!!!

Yeah ofcourse...its high time that India should take some action to get rid of this scum...its such a put off...therez no point in feeling proud abt the rich culture until its really presentable...so by all means India should introduce the Anti-Littering Law.

Yes! Its better to introduce an anti-littering law with severe punitive measures. Atleast, in subconscious, people may have some guilt while littering. In long run, this initiative may help tightening the process.

Yes something has to be done. The most important thing is that all people should encourage cleanliness and should be strict in following them. Unless there is proper infrastructure such laws are difficult to implement. It depends both on the government and the public as well.

Certainly, we should. The way to do it is, (1) Pick out a small community in each city as a model litter free zone, (2) Creating awareness around that it is strictly a litter free zone (3) Enforcing the law in that area (4) Showcasing that zone (which would hopefully be nice and sparkling) to the rest of the community and slowly but surely spread that way... Like many citizens mentioned, it is not an easy task, but possible if team work takes place.

Yes very much. But I don't think it will be 100% successfull as the law makers themselves will be against imposing the law. There is no harm in trying.

Without delay. Start from cities, then lower govt.al segments. There should be spittoons place at different places. That controls the spreads of diseases. These type of things should be introduced in a phased manner. Also should post in between Tv serials. Thanks

Last year in Jqanuary, I got a chance to visit Singapore and I was stunned to see the law and order of the city. But I doubt that India can do it thorugh out the country. Our leaders openly flout the laws, lile Lasloo would spit anywhere he would like to do so. We must form the Anti-Littering Laws and similarly provide facilities for dustrbins and garbage recycle programme, as has been done in Singapore. In Singapore, you will not find any traffic polce but no one either jumps the trafic signal or flouts the traffic law, and if you do so, you are punished. Seldom anyone throws anything either out of the running bus or while moving and walking except in the dustbins installed there for this purpose. Wherever you go, you will find these dustbins and public urinals so neat and clean.

No, I don't think that india should introduce such kind of law as it will make somebody feeling restricted and bounded, it will grab the sense of freedom from an indian, we are living in the same environment for last 60 years and we are quite happy with it. Imposing such law will part extra presuure which is quite unnecessary

Without any doubt! Its HIGH time we introduced 'Anti-Littering' Laws. It will not only help us keep our City/Town/Country clean, but also provides hygienic environment!

As much as I want the Law to be implemented, I know it isn't pragmatic in India!

Unless the attitude of the ppl change a Country cannot make Productive progress...

Ya India should introduce and implement certain Anti-Littering Laws , which will improve atleast 40% of the littered surroundings and make us aware of certain necessary steps to be taken strictly to keep our surroundings and us a bit clean and hygeineic. we know that India cannot be a place with full cleanliness around but it can be with certain laws strictly implemented by atleast certain people. at last i conclude that the laws should be in such a type that they can be implemented by many people with a minimum effort as many people can take part in this.

No, india needs more infrastructure for disposing of litter and waste products. This includes rubbish bins on trains - most of the rubbish goes out the windows on long distance trains!!

Yes i think why don't we atleast start to oblige the peaple by some or the other way, atleast it will create a sense of responsiblity toward cleanliness

so i think india should put on the step against anti-littering
