They were afraid of a powerful federal government (like one that wants to nationalize health care). To smooth things over the Bill of Rights was adopted. Right this very minute the feds are working hard to take those rights away from us.

Fear was prime factor pro and con. The argument was for Freedom and against repression and enslavement by England under King George. It was about taxation without representation. It was about life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. All thing that are now in danger under this current administration.

The Constitution was created by a bunch of rich white guys who were going to control the states. These rich white guys did not want the federal government to mess with their plans to get even richer, so they wanted to keep the federal government weak.

Yes, the Bill of Rights was adopted to remedy this, but the crap your high school history professor feeds you about "individual rights" is exactly that--Crap!! The bill of rights provides freedoms only to the states, which were controlled by the rich White guys. The Bill of Rights did nothing to control the power of state government.

The America that is worth protecting did not exist until the 13th and 14th Amendments were ratified.

If you show this email to your teacher, he or she will grimace, confirm that it is true, and confess that he is forced to teach the crap he is shoving into your pretty head.

Question authority.
