did you touch yourself when you were his age?if you didnt ,then you probably thought about it,its normal to masturbate, get over yourself, and realize thats what young boys do,its PERFECTLY NORMAL,i would worry if he didnt.if you do stop him or embarass him by calling the police, you run the risk of him hating women and he will see that act as a bad thing, and hate himself and turn into a sexual deviant, even worse, lighten up.have a drink.

call the police? Statutory rape of himself? Lady, please.....as a police dispatcher, I can tell you now, that if you called this in, my officer would have some really nice names for you. And don't think for a minute any of them would take you seriously.....masturbation is a perfectly natural thing for a person to do, especially a young man who is discovering his sexualty. I don't think he is the one with the problem, I think his mother should step back and take a look at herself. Do you look upon sex as dirty? I hope not...your son needs to know that what he is doing is healthy, natural and normal. I have sons 18 and 12, I'm just glad that they touch themselves and not some prostitute down on the corner. Good luck, Mom!

Good grief lady get a hold of yourself! Masturbation is not a form of abuse-its natural for men. i think you should calm down and stop being such a drama queen! cant you accept he's growing up?

The last thing in the world woul be to call the police... You need to accept that your son is getting older and all boys at one time or another do this. (sorry to say) Be happy he is doing this and not doing other things. It is hard for you as a parent but I have found that you just have to try to be calm and take a deep breath and know that you are doing a good job as a parent and you care... but he is growing.

No that wont work. It is not illegal for him to touch himself. It is actually perfectly normal. As uncomfortable as it is, you should have a talk with him. Find out if he is having sex and tell him that you just dont want to ever see the evidince of what he does again. Make sure he is not looking at porn on the computer or ordering dirty movies. Catologs are usually pg 13. not to racey.

Dont worry. He is normal.

Masturbation is completely normal. How old are you? Why would you humiliate your son for touching himself..its called PUBERTY! Everyone goes through this. I am 26 and I still wax my kitty all the time. Give him some privacy and stop putting his business all over the place.. If you were my mother I would be pissed.

He is not breaking the law. The police will not respond. (They may laugh about it). The kid isn't doing anything that most kids his age do. At least he isn't out getting girls pregnant or getting aids. At least he likes girls, not boys. He is quite normal...give the kid a break, he is experimenting.

Police! u must be crazy. That is normal he is a boy and boys do that in that ages. why do you want to scare him? Just try to talk him it will be more helpfull to him. If you rule him he will not obey your rules. Relax he will not do that all his life

He's just a kid. Find him some hobbys. Baseball or camping or something. If he has less time to himself, he'll have less time to snatch up those catalogs and do what you are so upset about.

If your son is interested in women, he is already straight and you don't have to worry about that. Is there a man that your son respects and admires, who could talk with him?

What your son needs to understand is that M is a poor substitute for reality, if it is done to the exclusion of reality. At his age, it is probably easier (and more exciting) for him to fantasize about mature women than to get to know real girls his age. He may have a degree of nervousness or anxiety about approaching girls his age, especially if he has somehow been given the mistaken impression that women will try to control or dominate him.

It is unlikely that your son will be completely satisfied with M and never have an acutal intimate relationship with a woman. That extreme situation would probably only occur if he were to persist for years and restrict himself only to M. It is a realistic danger, but the risk is low.

In order to prevent it, we must be on guard against something called 'purpose tremor'. The phrase is ordinarily used of people trying so hard to control their muscles that they have oncontrollable spasms. For example, the harder a drunk tries to hold his hand steady so that he can get his key into the lock, the worse his hand will shake.

In your son's case, if he is strictly punished or scolded, that is likely to make it more difficult for him to stop M. The other factor to consider is ordinary teenage rebellion and the lure of the forbidden. Do not underestimate how tempting something can be once it is forbidden.

Your objection need not be harsh or vocal; sometime when you will not embarrass him, quietly explain that it is not good for him to do that instead of having a real relationship with a wife someday. Then, as I mentioned earlier, a man whom he respects and admires could discuss these things with the boy.

Please don't frighten your son. It is not possible to confine his pain and reactions to one area, and even if he were to stop M immediately, the likelihood is that the guilt and shame will cause problems in the future.

For example, I get the impression that you would like him to respect you. You cannot use the police as a sort of "good cop/ bad cop" to make him stop M without giving him a strong resentment toward cops and all authorities, making a bad citizen out of him in the future. Temporary solutions like this are only temporary, but the problems they may cause are likely to be permanent.

Another approach that could be combined with the above is to give your son more avenues for healthy social development. I am speaking of ordinary social activities for boys and girls his age, not sex. As he relates to girls more, and loses the childhood shyness and the denial of interest in girls, his sexual desires will become more realistic and he is likely to be less satisfied with M.

Eventually, your son will marry and have children of his own. They will have much to thank you for, if you treat your son with dignity and gentleness.

Mr. Wizard
Save yourself the embarrasment and DON'T call the police. Your 13 year old son is going through a perfectly normal stage of male puberty and be totally assurred that NO crime by law is being committed.

Be the intellegent parent: have the boy's father give him a discreet and frank heartfelt "birds and bees" talk--with kind emphasis on the dangers of irresponsible sexual behavior.

Besides...the police have more dangerous people on the streets to be busy with.

Don't be so foolish. It is quite natural for your son to be doing this to himself, it is how he learns about his body. Don't let him know that you know, give him privacy.

I don't know what the magazines are you talk about but asume they are adult books, it won't hurt him to look at them.

It is better than going outside the home to discover himself.

You do not need to call the police, if you did they would more than likely laugh at you.
