I think that if not true it should definetly be true. A troop I think should get more respect for the way the place and under the circumstances he is fighting. Also because troops aren't given a choice to fight they just shoot, while in lots of places police officers never use their firearms. Also because the troops are fighting to protect the police officers so it is like a double whammy.

It depends on the situation. If a private is speeding down the highway and gets pulled over......
If a state trooper tries to enter a restricted military area without authorization......
You get the idea.

Wrong. Military does not have the powers that police have in the US. If that were true, then no military would ever get a speeding ticket.

They are not in the same structure and so there are no comparable ranks. If a military person, private or general, gives an order to a police officer, the police officer is under no obligation to obey it. Similarly, if a police officer orders a general to invade Grenada, the military officer is under no obligation to obey it.

being a MP we don't out rank the police only under the sec. of defense can do that if a nation state is unable to control its self. and yes local police can come into a military home if they are called most military housing is offbase also the military only protects the housing complex not the members in it that is the local police who protect the people yes if the local police allow it the military will take the military member in custody to his or her command

The military and the police have no relationship at all.
So unless there is an emgerancy and martial law has been declared, off of a military base, the police have all the authority over any military. On the base the military have the authority,

Only if we are at war here. As in we have been invaded and occupied. As a rule of thumb it takes 3 people without felony convictions to = the word of one cop in court. I was in the Marine Corps 83 -87 and provided evidence to the WI Dept of Justice in 2004 that sent a cop Dan Wineski to prison for the sexual assault of children. Search that name and you'll see.

No that is not true. They are two totally different organizations and their rank structures are as different as the management structure from one corporation to another.

they are two completely different things. Different jurisdictions. Police can tell a military person what to do in a civilian situation, where military can tell police what to do in a military situation. However, neither outranks the other unless in a state of martial law.
ADDED
Under Martial Law, the military takes charge of all government functions. And all local gov't services fall under the military. So in that instance alone the police would fall under the military.
