In England, if the Police are coming over and your smoking a cannabis joint, can you eat it and swallow it?

Scouse	Don't know or care Cannabis is an illegal drug. I do not use it and have little sympathy for those who do. I would have the suppliers of all illegal drugs flayed alive if I had my way. mynamesdan	no man, you can't do that. first of all, and this is important, it's on fire. so don't try to gobble it down without a glas of water. second of all, you'll be sick and most probably on a copper, which never goes down well. third of all, why would you assume that swallowing your joint makes it less illegal? unless you plant a flag and declare your intestines a sovereign state. if they catch you with a bit, they take it away. if they catch you with a lot, they take you away. if they catch you smoking it- put it out. uk_pindar	You could do that but it would be foul and it would give the impression that you thought you were in the wrong. Cannabis is not against a law , it is against an act, which means you have to consent to it being illegal, the police and courts don't tell you this and they take your ignorance of this fact as your consent. Swallowing drugs in the UK removes the evidence and therefore the case, however in police state USA you can be done for (crazy as it sounds) internal possesion in your blood. Cynical_Student	You could, but I wouldn't recommend it. You can only be cautioned/arrested if you are found to have cannabis in your possession (and the amount doesn't matter), or nearby you - although the area is a little grey. Chances are, if you've been smoking it, they'll smell it on you - and for some police officers, that is evidence enough to give you a caution. Was this answer helpful to you? Yes / No

MickeyT	Eat the joint?! Yuck! It's not taken so seriously that I'd ever consider such a thing. I've had coppers come up when I've been smoking and I always just carried on and they never noticed. I'm sure if I'd tried such a trick then they'd have caught me. Anyway, they're not going to have you shot if they do notice, so it's not worth eating it if you even can. North of 49	You can do that, however, it will give the Constables reasonable and probably grounds to believe you have more in possession and will have grounds to obtain a search warrant and then search the hell out of your residence. Ian UK	Its a class B controlled substance. If you get caught with an amount that would be deemed as being for personal use it works like this where I work. 1st offence, you get a street caution. 2nd offence, you get an £80 fixed penalty ticket 3rd offence you get arrested and go to Court. However, if you are under 17, smoking in public view or near a school, you get arrested straight away. If you have more than what would be deemed as being for personal use, you get arrested. What is an amount for personal use I can't really tell you without looking deeper into it with the CPS but you wouldn't get done for a few grains. As for eating your joint, you could do this.
