He will have to pay all summery tickets or maybe plead guilty to the dui and have the summary charges droped.... Then he will get his sentencing date set for his dui, it will be a few months later... surly if it is his first dui, I doubt he will get any jail time.. Now it sounds like your b/f may have a drinking problem and that may be the bigger issue that needs to be addressed here. Bottom line is, first dui is less than 2 days in jail and that is rare, it is usuall probation or a defered sentance that becomes expunged if he stays out of trouble for a year. His best bet would be to go to rehab for a month and at least see if he is alcoholic.... Good luck, and don't worry, he won't go to jail.. But if he does and you get lonly, give me a call..lol

He only has one ticket, but he was driving w/o a license? Seems a little iffy. He should get a good lawyer. Judges are coming down hard on people. I just had a friend go to jail for 2 months after a DUI. And she had a kid to take care of. The judge didn't care.

It all depends on what the judge decides to do. He can get sent back to jail and he can also get credit for time served. He can also lose his licence, get probation, or get sentinced to aa meetings. It all depends on the judge and your boyfreinds attitude in court. Beleive me I learned the hard way.

THAT is up to the judge. I hope YOU weren't riding with him when he made this suicide attempt, for that was what is was.

How can he get 4 speeding tickets in one day?
Ok, I don't want to judge your boyfriend but it sounds like he hasn't grabbed the concept of driving down very well. A DUI on your record is not good; it can hinder his chances of finding employment.
I suggest that he take public transportation for a year until he's able to learn how to safely drive.
He should pay the tickets and go to traffic school.

That is too bad that happened. Maybe if you get a good lawyer,
things can be straightened out, but it doesn't look good. I
know a guy who got a DUI n Illinois. He still doesn't have his
license after five years. Money sometimes saves you in this
kind of situation, but you need about $5,000 here in Illinois.

He will have to serve the mandatory sentence, but there is a good chance he won't have to go to jail right after court.

I don't know for sure, but let me tell you, my best friend's son went to court, got put on probation, when he missed a meeting with his prob. officer (because he was told if he left work he'd be fired) an arrest warrant was issued. I believe for a DUI.
He called his mom and said he wasn't going back to jail and he'd be back when the warrant expired...he figured 7 years. His mom is heartbroken since she doesn't know where he is, did get a call saying she was a gramma, but can't even see the child for 4 more years. Just have him go, face the music and have it done and over with....

Depends on his sentance. Jail time is not manditory on a first offense but it is always a possibility.

He *should* go back to jail, on an ethical and moral note - but - every state / county / township is different. If I were the judge, I'd throw him back in, for sure.

The judge will decide that. Most likely he will get hit with financial fees larger than the fines and no jail time. Also told to perform community service, have his liscence suspened or not be able to aquire one for a specified period of time and sent home.
They don't want you in jail. They just take all your money.
Oh and after you drop him off at home. Find yourself someone who is not that stupid to get behind the wheel intoxicated! You'll be glad you did.
