A family car i.e. a four door with a regular engine. Don't get colors like red or black as they sometimes raise insurance. Find some cars you like, then calll your insurance company and ask for a quote for the different cars.

Depending on your driving record, and where you live, the older cars are cheaper to insure.

One that is already paid off. If you lease or pay through a bank you have to get full coverage. If it's paid off, all you need is liability.

Stay away from sports cars - that is a given
Stay away from 4-wheel drive - that is a given
If I had to guess I'd say a Ford Focus, Honda Civic, etc.

Avoid sports cars, anything that says hatchback, or two door...avoid anything "souped up". Older, frumpy, small engine...

An old car that you can just insure for liability. Don't get insurance on the car itself. If you have a crash, it won't pay for your car, just for injuries. But if you buy a cheapie that runs, the cost of the car is so low, it's not worth insuring it anyway.

A bigger, older car like a 1998 Crown Victoria. You wouldn't need collision coverage at all and it would be safe to drive. Gas mileage is decent at 24 mpg on the highway.

Cars are insured according to the engine size, weight etc. I think all Insurance companies are charging the same amount for similar cars for insurance. You can take either a comprehensive insurance or a third party insurance according to your requirement. So if you want cheap insurance go for third party insurance i.e no insurance coverage for car but in case of accident only the third party (the party who has been affected by your car) will get compenation.

That's actually a very sensible question to ask, and I don't think alot of people consider it before buying a car. When I prepare to buy a new car, I follow a Consumer's Reports guideline that I read years ago. Pick maybe 3 top choices of cars that you're thinking about buying. Then call you insurance agent and ask what each is going to cost in insurance.
If you don't have three cars in mind and just want to know which might be more prone to lower rates, then a trip to your library and pulling the binder on Consumer Reports on used cars will often guide you in the same direction of decision making. Thats a point of research anyway.
Things that inflence insurance cost is how much does it cost to replace parts on a given car. The cost of repair or replacement on a BMW may be drastically different than a Saturn, etc.

I think in most states, a car that's at least five years old (won't have to carry full coverage). Trucks, SUV's, and sportscars are usually the highest.

Car insurance depends on many factors. The car u buy, ur age and driving experience. Normally age below 32 will have to pay higher premum. U will also have to have clean recore in order to obtain 50% NCB so that it will bring down ur premium level. So drive safe!

We have a Chevy Equinox. It has high safety ratings and we pay about $90/month... we have about 2 accidents on our record and not the best credit so it's really low for us, just to give you an idea.
