We had to get a lawyer for an accident that was caused by an uninsured motorist, what should I expect?

entidtil	First, Most insurance companies, although they won't/can't say, do not trust chiropractors because they are viewed as "phonies" and "quacks" That may be a major reason why they are sending you to a real Doctor, Dump your chiropractor and on your own, go to see a real Doctor of your choice and get his/her opinion as to your injuries. Since you already hired a lawyer, you should not now be worried about the other kid. These suits can drag on for years and 95% of the time are settled out of court for much less than the amount you are suing for. You may not want to hear this, but I'll bet if you had gone to a real Doctor in the first place, you would not have had to hire a lawyer and sue and everything would now be settled Was this answer helpful to you? RogerH	What ever your insurance company has to pay out to you and your lawyer they will sue the kid for. If the kid was under 18 (21 in some states if he still lives at home) the insurance company will sue his parents attach assets and or earnings his parents or himself receives. This could cause them to have to even lose their home or file bankruptcy.If the kids family didn't own the car the will also go after the owner of the car that hit you. Kizzy	Insurance carriers look at the whole scenario. Were you taken by ambulance to the ER? Did treatment begin right away or was there a gap? Have to agree with the other statement on chiropractors, they do tend to over treat, I see it everyday. Now having an attorney, it's going to be more difficult for the carrier to get what they need. If you have nothing to hide, go the IME (independant medical examiner) and get it over with. You have to remember, insurance carriers have to hire these doctors, they don't work for the company. Rainier	If the kid and his family didn't want to be ruined, they should have had insurance. I wouldn't worry about them. I agree that the insurance company has issues with the chiropractor. I know nobody ever listens to me but they aren't actually real doctors. A lot of the stuff they do and believe is nutso crazy on par with Scientology or homeopaths or Democrats. You know, crazy.
