Bloody hell - I can't answer your question but from the replies of others it looks like you may have to. It is a sad, sad, sad reflection on life in the UK now, the nanny state gone stark, staring mad.

as the car is leased by your company you will have to do as asked.i wander if the leasing company knows of this edict as these stickers leave a mess when removed and devalue the car.

It is a compagny car, the car does not belong to you. So you probably will have to do as they wish.

hmmm, it is strange that they're asking it now but I mean if you don't smoke and it is a company car then why not just put it in there? i think because the car technically belongs to them then they have every right to ask you do this. They have to abide by quite strict laws too to do with this smoking ban thingamy. Sorry, it sucks!!!

Hi, The employer does have the right to request you do this but do you have an Union who can negotiate this for you?
Teh suggestion that it is put in a discreet position may satisfy your employer .

The required by law sticker is actually a circular symbol, the same size as your tax disc holder. You can buy a tax disc holder with the no smoking sign on it and display that - it's legal and all you need. If you really are pressured into putting it on, then try using blu-tack, then you can remove it when you're not on business, but still display it to appease your bosses.

It's not a question of whether you smoke. The company are required by law to display no smoking signs in the workplace and as the car is a company car it has to have a sign. And it will probably need to be prominently displayed. Nothing you can do. If the car was yours it would be a different matter.

It is a company car, and it is classed as your workplace (English law, not sure about Scottish).
Bear in mind, that if you ever drive in to England, you will have to abide by English law.
Do as you are told.

I am unsure of the law in Scotland but in England it is a legal requirement. I think it's more to protect the company if someone were to sue them for being damaged by smoking in the same car. Whether you smoke or not is irrelevant it is to cover them I think.

It is a company car. It is not yours. You may use it, but they own it. If they say to put the sticker in the car, then put the sticker in the car. Don't mess up your job over something that really doesn't matter.
Good luck

If it is a company car, then it is considered as a workplace for the purposes of the new UK smoke-free legislation and therefore your employer is quite correct.
