yes. you are supposed to rest it on top knuckle of your middle finger and the bottom knuckle of your pointer finger. hold it gently in place with your pointer finger and thumb.

I'm write with my right hand and I hold a pencil using my middle and index finger along with my thumb. Works for me.

well it depends on the person, there is no "right" way to hold a pencil as long as you have the graphit to the paper then its all smooth sailing from there!
i personally hold my pencil gripped lightly and balenced on heknuckle of my ring finger. but iv seen people grip the intire pencil like they were trying to squeeze it to death
