Insurance agencies have diffrent grace periods. Most of the time they will insure you, but if you don't pay they can still charge you and if you still don't pay it can be turned into a collection agency. Your best bet is to pay the insurance and have it transfered over to the new car in two weeks

No there is no period of grace! You MUST have current insurance cover any time a vehicle is used on public highways.

No, absolutely not. Not even one minute's grace. As soon as your policy expires, you are not insured - no excuses.

Is this a "blonde" question or what?? Come on, this isn't rocket science! Think about it!!!!! You're coverage ends the day and hour the insurance company put on the cancellation notice which is generally 12:01 AM!!!!

Nope, when it ends it ends.
Re-insure the car, and then change the car on the policy when you get it.
Just did that with All state, and had no issues, just a lot of mail.

NO! Don't do it! If your insurance expires on the 28th, you are covered until midnight on the 28th. Be safe... not sorry.

Why would any company give you free insurance? On home policies we have 30 days grace, but if you don't pay your renewal or return your documents, you get cancelled and billed for the time on risk. Car insurance is over when it is over. Renew, then transfer your insurance when you get your new car.

hi there
when you purchase your car insurance you normally do it over a twelve month basis, there for when the twelve months is up unless you have renewed it, it will end there is no grace on insurance tax or mot anymore they all have to be valid.
you would not be insured to drive if it had ran out.

Do you honestly think that an insurance company which charges you the earth for a policy in the first place, is going to GIVE you 14 days FREE!!!!!!!?????? I don't think so! If you're uninsured, don't drive!

Would not trust that at all - insurance companies will get out of paying out claims any way they can. If you had an accident within the 14 day period you can be damn sure they wouldn't pay out. I think they might have to write to you to advise you first though.

you will not be insured after the time and date end, of the insurance certificate. You will have to insure your vehicle then change the insurance over to the new vehicle as soon as you receive it. If you pay your ins. co. by direct debit, then they renew your insurance automatically until you cancel the debit.

you get No grace what so ever, and anyone who has said different is mistaken, if you take a car on the road it must have a current certificate of insurance.
It only takes one phone call to change to your new car,

Nope. Absolutely not. Its your responsibility to renew before it expires. Most insurers bombard you with reminders before the expiry date anyway so you can't even try and blag it that you forgot, the bobbies will just think your taking the piss.

Nope! The policy expires at 11:59 PM on the 28th. From that moment onwards, you are not covered.
Some companies may allow a grace period for you to reinstate a lapsed policy without paying a penalty, assuming that there are no claims while the policy is in lapsed status. That will be spelled out in your policy if it's offered.

it is not true that you have any period of grace. Insurance policys are time and date restricted. They expire on a certain date at a certain time, after that you are not covered to drive.
As for 14 days grace in relation to tax....also not so. It the vehicle is sighted without tax you may be taken to court for the offence.
Hope this helps

In the UK there is NO grace period - that's why it actually has an expiry date. After that date & time - it is no longer valid.
Whoever told you that is a moron!
