If you have an insured car, the insured cars policy should extend to the for sale car. If the for sale car is insured, their coverage would be prime, then your own. Check with your agent though to be sure

Insurance is with the car not the driver, as long as the registered owner has the vehicle insured for the road, and provided permission for you to use it you will be fine.
Age is not a factor in this case.

Your 3rd party liability cover will protect you in an accident. If the car you are test driving is covered by physical damage, that policy will respond first since it is primary and your auto policy will be excess.r

The owner should still have insurance for the car as it will be him in trouble if an accident should happen.... if he does not have insurance for someone under 25, but gives you permission to drive the car for the one time his insurance will cover the car and you.
