If you want coverage to follow you to other cars, you can get insurance on your license. This will give you coverage on any vehicle you are in.

Insurance covers the car, not the driver. As long as you are driving a car that is insured with the owners permission, you have coverage.
If you are driving a friends car and you crash it... your friends insurance will cover it, not yours

No. I think you will find that insurance companies say exactly what they mean, usually in the small print. I should read it all very carefully to see exactly what you are covered for, believe me, if they can get out of a claim they will do.

Its always best to call the company as small print can be confusing and unclear - that way you would have a recorded call to go by and you will avoid fines etc if you drive a car your not insured to...

in the uk you are only covered to drive another car that does not belong to you or is not regitered to you if your policy says so. it is normally a perk of fully comp insurance.
check out the small print with care

The short answer is if it doesn't say so no.
The more comprehensive response having had the same issue this week is that when you read up the blurb that comes with insurance, the feature that used to exist so that if you were fully comp you could drive another persons car on a TP basis has been removed.
It seems that this was being abused by some drivers and this action is part of a group of precautions to clamp down on uninsured drivers. Sadly, this means that you'll need to be a named driver on the car owners policy that you want to drive and vice versa - a bit more money for the insurance companies then!!
Hope this helps...

No. And if the policy says you do have third party cover on other cars beware. The small print explains this is only for emergencies. If you're using this on a regular basis the company will not pay out and you will be liable for all costs.

No you are not covered.
The wording in insurance policies is quite plain, if you are covered to drive other vehicles it will clearly say so

UK? if you have fully comp. insurance you are usually covered to drive other cars with 'third party' cover only, and providing they are already insured by another driver.
I.E, you could drive your mates car with third party cover.
If you are already third party you will have to check the individual policy.
