I remember my sister letting me drive when I was in grade school, but only in a parking lot. Then, when I was about 13 or 14, my dad let me drive on the road.

You never stop learning - I first drove a car unassisted in a private car park when I was 11. Passed test first time at age 17 and 2 days. Have pass plus and advanced driving awards and also a full motorcycle licence - I learn every day that other road users are f*&^^%ing idiots with no respect for other drivers - cutting you up, tailgating, doing 70 on 50 roads and 50 on 30 roads, wheelspins, handbrake turns, overloading the little saxo or corsa with 12 of their hoody mates and generally not giving a toss about anyone else. Of course this is because their pea brains cannot cope with looking, listening, breathing and talking at the same time (multitasking to them) let alone driving and being aware of the ever changing situation around them - we should raise the age of driving to 21 and make new drivers repeat the test every year for the first 5 years - in this time the first points on their license should result in a 12 month ban - no excuses - drive within the law or not at all. Sorry got carried away there. TTFN

I drove for the first time when I was 11. I didn't drive again until I was 13. I will be 15 next month and I drive all the time, with my parents. I will get my license when I turn 16.

Bit of a nightmare question, but started at eighteen, eventually passed at twenty one. Would have got there sooner, but after my first test (which went really well) I got the collywobbles and suffered from massive nerves!!! My last test was really my last, I decided tae give up if I didn't pass, was resigned tae failing, so was totally relaxed! Howling for aboot three hours when the wee guy said that I had passed!! made a huge difference tae ma life.

I lived out in the country, so my cousins would let me drive when I was 13 - I got my license at 15, but I didn't own a car until I graduated from High School - it was a sweet 1967 Ford Fairlane, tan with a black top! Sure wish I still had it........

Never actually. I had just watched others & when needed the car for an emergency I took off. I was 28 before I got my license. I didn't have a car of my own & no one to take me for a driver's test so I never bothered. Hubby showed me the particulars you can't just learn from watching & took me for the test. I wouldn't have passed it because I never could paralell part back then. But the tester was female & overheard hubby teasing me about no woman passes her first time. I saw the tester change the score from 68 to 69, smile & tell my hubby I had passed. One of the few times I was grateful for his macho teasing jags he gets on. lol!

Passed my test when I was 31 still learning
I note that there is a lot of news about teenage drivers 17/18 say who drive badly and cause accidents.
It is easy to point the finger (I talk about UK only ) but I ask how did you drive for the first 12 months after you passed your test in your late 20 early 30's.
At a guess I would suggest that due to over confidence you were an accident looking for somewhere to happen and other motorists pulled you out of the DO DA

10 or 11. Living in the country is great. If you can reach the pedals, your old enough to drive.
