You are too old to learn to drive when you stop pumping air in and out of your lungs!

My mother did not get a driver's license until she was in her 30's.

Another gentleman I know got his when he was 55. He lived in a city with public transportation, and taxicabs, and never needed to drive! He retired (early) and moved to a more rural area, with a lower cost of living (but no public transportation). He got his license, and bought a car. The last time I saw him he had just returned from a 4 week road trip. (he is in his 70's now and still drives).

You are young! You will have no trouble learning. You may want to find a driving instructor (or a friend) who you are comfortable working with, but with some practice you will do fine!

Good luck

You're too old to learn to drive when you no longer have a pulse. You're too old to actually drive when you can barely walk.

Your only as old as you feel. I didnt start even driving untill I was 19. Alot older than many today. But think of it this way. There are 40-50 year olds in New york who have never learned to drive. They have no place to park a car so why buy one!!!
You wont be the oldest to eveer learn, NOT BY A DECADE OR SO.

There is no upper limit. Certainly, at age 29 you can do so, as long as you are able to turn the wheel, operate the shift, and push the pedals.

You can never be too old, although I though I was very old to just be learning how to drive and I am 21, but most of my friend have been driving for years. Good Luck!

To feel more confident and improve with your driving, you just need to spend more time doing it. It might take you longer to learn - and all your worrying about it probably isn't helping - but as you do it more and more, your brain learns how to coordinate the multiple actions involved in driving more smoothly. Over time, you won't have to concentrate so hard on turning the wheel and working the pedals, for example, because you will do it more naturally in response to what is around you.

Ultimately, I do NOT think you are too old. You can do it! Just practice in safe areas using good habits - and be patient with yourself.

You are not too old to learn to drive. My best suggestion for you is to do something relaxing before you get in the car and then make sure you go with someone who will be supportive and not distracting or frustrated if everything doesn't go perfectly (cause it won't). Go to a nice open parking lot early in the morning or late, when no one's there and just drive around and around until you start to get bored. It sounds dumb, but the more you drive, the more comfortable you will get. After a while, try parking and backing up. When you have that down, try driving in traffic that's very light, such as early in the morning on a weekend. Just take it slow and you'll get it! And when it comes to the tests, study a little every day for the week before and then relax the day before and try to de-stress.
