Matt	I have nothing against immigration, except for people that are here illegally. But I think many blue collared people are upset with hispanics taking their jobs. But let's look at it from an economic prospective: Hispanics generally work for less, and work just as hard. Makes sense for people running the unskilled labor trades. The reason Americans want Mexicans out is because you haven't done anything with your country. Americans have built up the United States (or smart enough to pay someone to). claddaghmamma	The problem is that you take jobs for very little pay, and no insurance. We, the tax payers, then have to pay for every baby delivered and for every visit you make to the hospital while ill. You make so little money that you live many, many to a house and it brings down property value. If you were here legally, you could demand fair wages, rightly so, and benefits like health insurance. Then you are not a drain on our country. We get most upset when you come here and demand things instead of fixing your own, very messed up, country. I hope that helps. git_tator	This goes beyond racism. It's about fairness. People are pissed about --illegal-- Mexican immigrants. I'm a legal African immigrant; my family took the necessary steps to enter the country and get jobs, and stay for an extended period of time. It pissed -me- off when people try to make the issue about all immigrants in general OR all Mexicans in general because it isn't either. It's about ILLEGAL immigrants. Unfortunately, the majority are Mexican, because it's shares a very long border with the US and people are desperate for jobs. Here's the thing. If people come into this country illegally, and take jobs illegally, they make things worse for EVERYONE. Their employers can pay them less, and the immigrants make less than a living wage. There's no union involvement because everything is under the table and everyone involved would be carted off to jail if it came to light. People who are in America legally then can't get jobs because employers know they can get a bunch of illegals to do it for cheap--and without demanding any of the things you take for granted in a job, like health care, safe workign conditions, or reasonable hours. Everybody loses. Wages go down for everyone. Employers treat everyone like crap because they have a cheap source of labor they hold hostage. Americans are forced to accept worse positions or no job at all. If you're upset about people assuming you're illegal or dumb or whatever just because you're Mexican, that's racism. Learn to type properly and then give them whatfor--show that you're an intelligent Mexican woman who can make her case and win. As an immigrant, I know how stupid it is for 'natural born' Americans to tell me to get out and go home. You're right--we're ALL immigrants here. It's just a matter of how long ago we arrived. Even the Native Americans migrated from Asia. On all those counts, I agree with you. But think about the politics before you complain about other people. Are they racist idiots? Could be. But they also might be hardworking people just like you who lost their jobs because illegal immigrants are undermining the system. RAZR	I have no problem with honest hard working Mexicans who come here to earn a living. It's the ones who don't take the initiative to follow our rules and live by our laws that give Mexicans a bad name. Of course you want a job like everyone else, we'd like nothing more than for you to have one. We'd also like you to be legit about it. Do you have a green card? How are you getting to work? Do you have a drivers license? Do you have auto insurance? When you get to where you work can American people understand you or do we have to be bilingual? Where are your kids when you're at work? Is someone watching them, are they at school or are they roaming the streets free? Do you smile or say hi or chat with someone you meet no matter where they're from? Americans want respect. vvxxzzvv	We were either born here, or someone in the past did the work to become legal citizens, or married a legal citizen. Those are the rules that we follow. There are rights here that you aren't getting because you are illegal, that isn't fair to you. Since many of those rights have to do with labor laws, companies take advantage of you because they don't have to pay you a decent wage, they don't have to let you have breaks, they don't even have to keep you safe on the job. So they hire you, mistreat you, and a United States citizen who has these rights is either unemployed or forced to put up with these working conditions. You DON'T take jobs that others don't want, you take the work that MY HUSBAND does. He is worth $18+ per hour, but the boss hires an illegal and pays them $5 or $6 for the same work. Can't you see? If you were LEGAL you would get $18+ per hour NOT $5 or $6. My hubby doesn't mind loosing out to a better man, but he really hates it when he looses out to a guy who gives his skills away! STOP giving your skills away!!! Get Legal and get paid a fair wage, get your breaks, work where it is safe! Robin i	most are not against mexicans. legal ones. when someone who is not legal gets to go to our hospitals and our doctors and dont pay, when we are selves are being sued daily it doesnt seem fair. the biggest complaint is that when someone who is illegal gets better treatment then people who are legal its not really fair. also with mexicans working under the table it makes everyone suffer. not just americans.
