You have to go to either the hospital where you were born or the Municipal/court house/city hall in the township where you were born. Bring ID and they can give you a new copy.

You have to call the Social Services in the state that you were born in. The number you are looking for will be in the govt. pages of your phone book. They may ask for a picture id, or some form of identification, so they know it is you. Generally, they also charge a fee(usually around 5-15 dollars) too.

ask your mother what city and state you were born in, then find out where the records building is and you should be able to get your birth certificate there

The State in which you were born. The agencies differ, though. Check the Internet.. you can find the proper agency to contact there.

If the hospital you were born at is still open, they will have your records.

However, if you are like me and the hospital shut down, you have to go to the hall of records in your town. They have the records you need.

county where you were born. send a request; a check; and a self adresse3d stamped envelope. be sure you get a certified copy, and since your going through all this trouble, get 5 certified copies. If you run into a snag, hire an attorney service to physically get it and mail it to you.

You can get it from the county courthouse where you were born. The paper one tends to fall apart at the creases. There is a billfold-sized one that is laminated, and you can carry it in your wallet. It lasts forever.

You can get a copy of your birth certificate from the records department at your city hall.

You will have to get your birth certificate from the courthouse in the county that you were born in. The office is often called the County Clerk's Office. You will not be able to get a birth certificate from a hospital and if there is one out there issuing them, they are in violation of Federal law, and no doubt state laws as well.

Hospitals only keep records of birth. For your birth certificate you need to go to the county in which you were born. As has been said, find the office of vital statistics. It is usually located in county office buildings such as the county clerk's office. They are the only office that can provide you with an authentic raised seal copy of your birth certificate.

You will need acceptable identification, such as your social security card and driver's license. Additionally, it is not free. Expect it to cost between $10-20.
