I think that Argentina is an awesome country. The political system needs to be corrected to allow greater protection of the citizens by the Legislator, but other than that its cool. I, like many other people in Britain, hold little against Argentina in regard to the Falklansds War. Argentina has some of the best scenery and countryside in the world, its a nation that is heavily underestimated in the current times.

As a Brit who has lived abroad more than half my life, I can say that the Falklands War left us ex-pats cold. Both Heads of State were in crisis at home and a war seemed like a good idea, to revive patriotic feeling.
It might interest you to know, that there were Brits at the time who asked, 'What are the Argentinans doing off the coast of Scotland?' They had no idea where the Falklands are.
And the Argentinian Navy was training with the British Navy off the coast of Wales shortly before the war broke out. The French had sold Argentinia Exocet missiles and travelled with the British Navy to the south Atlantic to try to explain to the Brits the workings of the missile.
Personally I think the answer to the whole conflict is oil. If there is oil in the seas around the Falklands, that would explain why Argentina wants them back.
Otherwise the Falklands are worth nothing to either country. More sheep than people. The Brits gave Hong Kong back to the Chinese. Why would they hang on to the Falklands?
Having never been to Argentina, I don't have any opinion about the country. Argentinians I have met are very pleasant people.

"Don't Cry for me Argentina" very famous in the movie by Madonna about Evita Peron.
Falklands belong to Argentina by historic right but Great Britain does not want to relinquish it claiming that the islands belong to them by occupation.

Hello Yo (or should I say "zho" :)
I think Argentina is a beautiful and interesting place. Incredible scenery, EXCELLENT food, beautiful women -- kind of like the best of bothLatin and European countries mixed into one place. I'd love to go back some time.
I'm afraid I do have to agree that they are not the Malvinas, but the Falklands, though I respect the Argentine soldiers who have died trying to take it.

I have no problem with Argentina (though thanks to THAT goal http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport3/worldcup2002/hi/history/newsid_1900000/1900830.stm in 1986 by Maradona, I hate the Argentine football team, his second goal was brilliant though), even with the Falklands conflict.
I remember what happened, as well as the fact that most the Argentine troops who were sent to fight were conscripts. Argentina was a dictatorship at the time, and in no way do I hold the Argentine people responsible for the actions of a dictator who was trying to hold onto power.
But the Falklands are British.
Two reasons, the British were there first. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Falkland_Islands#Early_Colonisation (Well, the French were there before us.)
Second, the people of the Falklands do not want Argentina to rule them. They want to stay British. Morally, we have to respect the rights of those who live there, to decide if they wish to be independent, or part of the UK. Including if they want, the right they might express to become part of Argentina. In the event that those who live on the Falklands want to become part of Argentina, then fine. Until then, let them be.
p.s. hate corned beef as well, but love Argentine wines.

The country (as in land) is fascinating, the people is generally (generally, not always) superfluous and shallow, and their economy is one of the worst I've ever seen.

I'm Irish so the Falkland Islands are unimportant to me- although I can see good points of both arguements- the island is off the coast of your country but the people see themselves as British so as a neutral it's hard to call.
I see your country as generally impoverished by a poor government and also because of USA interferance and because of this I cant see your country ever advancing on the world scale
But your country is rich in culture and you gave us world famous people like Eva Peron, Maradonna and most importantly of all Che Guevarra
And your English is better than most people on this site
