Go to the embassy and take your birth certificate in Tell them you need a new US passport and that you lost your previous passport You will need to take new photos and than take your US birth certificate and apply for US passport There is a 100 dollar fee for a new passport In 15 open days it should be available at the embassy for pickup Was this answer helpful to you? u_bin_called	First thing you need to do is contact the U.S. Embassy (if you're in a capitol city) or the nearest Consulate (usually in the larger cities) and arrange to get there soon. Most Embassies will print temporary passports on site so depending on their work schedule you should be good to go, especially since you have a copy of your birth certificate. A friend of mine had her passport stolen on a Sunday in Paris. She had her family fax her a birth certificate copy and the Embassy had her a new passport by the end of day on Monday. Good luck.
