I think if India were to ask for help it would probably be the British S.A.S.
At least only terrorists would get killed and no one would be hurt with "friendly fire"

That's their whole point. They're going to, which I think they already have, blame it on a terrorist organization linked to the Pakistani ISI, providing further justification for controversial U.S. bombings inside Pakistani territory and heightened rhetoric against Pakistan on behalf of President elect Barack Obama.

It is time that the US takes a backseat to foreign diplomacy as volatile as this. India and the countries like it have for years decried that they are self-sufficient and now is the time for them to prove it. Besides, if America gets involved and the situation becomes worse, it will only lead to even more rampant hatred of America. Le India take the heat for a while. As for the Americans that are involved in the hostage situation, it is a price you pay when you travel to a dangerous region like India.

the us has extensive ties with india,,,,,,,,,we also have given them ,or sold them, technology for nuclear fission,as we did with pakistan.both were ,I think, bad mistakes.the paks & indians otherwise would have obtained nukes from the french or the russians, better us than the ruskies.now that us citizens have been killed, the indian ambassador is going to anticipate daily phone or video conferences with american and israeli govt contacts about who, how, and why the attack occurred, where they trained, and who supplied them.We ought to have patience, but needlem we should , to do rapid, thorough investigation until the indians either find out wwwh or holler UNCLE & let US take over & do the necessary work

Some of these answers are ridiculous. India would ask the Brits instead of America? Come on really? And it pi$$e$ me off so bad that those terrorists were "looking" for the Americans and the Brits. However I don't think we should invade India because of a few crazies. If they needed our help they would ask and we would give it. But their military is capable of fighting off what is going on right now.

India has a large and capable military and police. I am sure they can handle this immediate problem themselves.

How exactly can the US help? The terrorists came over from Pakistan and starting shooting. What could the US do that India couldn't?

If the Indian government ASKS for our help of course . . . but India already has a well trained military . . . so I imagine any help requested would be confined to intelligence.
