NO. He may need to have traveler's checks at some point, and you must sign the check in front of the clerk and that signature is checked against your passport signature.

First of all, it would be good to know which country you're talking about.
In the U.S., a passport application for a minor must be completed by the parents, guardians, or adults with court authorized documentation.
You should sign your son's name in his passport. In parentheses after his name, write "by mother" or "by father."
Only children 14 and older are required to sign a passport application. You had to sign the passport application (DS-11) for your son because of his age.
You may sign his name on the passport as long as you clearly indicate that his name was written by you.
