Khartoum: Crowds are on the streets now calling for the teacher who called a teddy bear 'Mohammed'?
To be executed by firing squad.

Do Muslims have a monopoly on the name MOHAMED?
It is a point the court in THE HAGUE should resolve.

Love life and share happiness
This is a political thing, hopefully she will be home soon.
We better stay at home in the future and do our English teaching by email.
I used to work abroad and travel via middle east...... NOT any more I will never leave Europe now, had enough of nonsense !
We should feel sorry for the poor Sudanese they have no other place to go. Perhaps the evil and corrupt rulers of that country gave them a free kebab for their demonstration.
We should not go where we are mistreated.

Tell Sudan that if one hair on the head of Gilliam Gibbons is harmed, or her sentence increased upon appeal, we will retaliate.

I think that whilst a firing squad is little extreme, the teacher in question did break the law. Her punishment is far less than it could've been (and would've been if she'd been Sudanese).

I think the reason most people in Khartoum are upset is that she has clearly broken the law, been given a VERY lenient sentence, and she still has the cheek to appeal.

If an American came to the UK, bought a rifle, and started taking pot-shots at some tin-cans in his back yard (something he's allowed to do at home), we would still prosecute him for having firearms, and we may even be lenient with him because his actions would be considered legal at home.

I think she got lucky!!

Sudanese brain cells are obviously in short supply as are the reactions of this pathetic communist Brown led Labour Gov,t.It is obviously a very fragile religion when it has to use barbaric punishments to keep its brainwashed populace in check. When are people of this planet going to grow up and learn to think for themselves?

This is ridiculous. you ask any muslim and they will say that the sudans have took it too far , it has not affected that many muslims anyway.
So if an asian person calls their teddy john, should we say that is racism against us british.....NO

Sick to death of us british getting slammed for stuff like this.

Were is our goverment? If she goes to jail or even worse the death penalty i am sure there would be a war , and if not there should be, she was innocent and only naming a bloody teddy mohammed because a pupil wanted it naming after him.

Please do not get me started.

Going for a brew to calm down

I am sure she wont be. The Diplomats are working overtime to prevent one hair on her head being touched. This is politically instigated so it will have to be sorted out politically. All is not what it seems.

I personally am sick and tired of all these people who think that they can bully this country (UK) and its now time we took a leaf out of the Americans book and took to the streets of Sudan with as much military might as we can and wipe the country out like we used to years ago.
We here in the UK are looked upon as soft and, we cannot do anything without the help of the USA well, its time to stand up on our own feet and start treating these countries as they treat us.
Who the hell do these Sudanese ******* think they are treating innocent people in this way,and this really has nothing to do with religion, personally I would be happy to have something named after me.
Up until recently,I have had some sympathy for all these countries begging for western help but,now I have decided to NEVER donate to ANY charity unless it is for European or,American causes,so I say stuff the lot of them and see how long they last without our help.
Call back any UK volunteers working abroad and channel them into other causes.
There is enough poverty in our own country anyway where their services will be at the least, more useful.
This really has nothing to do with religion, its more about control and, again targeting Britons working abroad.
For the record I like everyone whatever their colour or creed BUT, do not like bullies whatever or,whoever they are.

MICHAEL P
My thoughts are that this whole thing has been blown totally out of proportion. Is calling a teddy bear 'Mohammed' really an insult to Islam? The trouble is that the British people have a lot more tolerance and flexibility in their lives than the country that are responsible for this. The word 'radical' springs to mind and that is why we have the problems in the UK because of religious radicalism. This poor woman has made nothing more than a 'faux pas' that should have been buried from the start with a quiet word about its inappropriateness. There is something very dark and onerous when people can be incarcerated and lashed for such mildly offensive behaviour. Thank goodness I live in a progressive and free thinking country like the UK ....
