Having a green card is not been an American! You are a resident of the US. You cannot enter Europe without a proper visa for the country to which you are traveling to! American citizens can travel to Europe with a passport and they do not require a visa, but a GREEN CARD holder needs a schengen visa or a UK visa to enter the intended country!!!!

I don't know what a "white" passport is. The way it works is you get a passport from the country in which you have your citizenship, and use that for Europe or international travel, Your Green Card you use to reenter the US and you are not required by the US to have any other document than the green card.

You should try Tom Netau's US Passport site. They can hook you up with a passport in as little as within 24 hours – fairly inexpensively, all automated online(no postage), and saves you a lot of hassle and time.
The most I think you would pay is $200, and you can get it done for as little as $100, which is less than a Passport Acceptance Office would charge. It all depends on how fast you need it. The faster you need it, the more the cost.
Impeccable service, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, CNN, MSNBC have praised them for their service and are officially licensed by the US Passport Office.
You can either go this route, or wait up to 6-8 weeks for one.
Doing it online, there is no need for appointments, long lines, rushing in traffic clear across town, none of that.
